I feel like Jack the Ripper book and the series is overhyped and underwhelming. I couldn’t finish anything Veronica Roth has written. Also, The Iron King (the Iron Fey series) by Julie Kagawa. It was so boring
@Kirstie I love her work as well…the raven boys is one of my favorite series so I was really excited for this but it just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess.
I didn’t finish I’ll Be Gone in the Dark. Great book but it scared the bananas out of me. I was home alone a lot when I was trying to read it and I kept getting so anxious I couldn’t finish it.
@Naomi the first book is GARBAGE. Through strong encouragement from my friends I pushed forward into book 2. I also didn’t want to finish it (I’m seriously sick of Stockholm syndrome relationships in books). But about 5-7 chapters into book 2, the story completely changed. Like a whole new f-ing story. I’m like, wtf. But I really loved it after those initial shit filled chapters and the last book in the series I ended up loving. ?
@Jasmine that’s fair enough. It took me a while to adjust to that style of writing but once I got to know the characters better it was perfect. Have you watched the tv series?
@Heather it starts, so fast, like you zone out for half a page, some very important happened, then it turned SO sloooooooow. So everything happens, wah wah sob story, grab what i came for, the end. And the love story to me was just so cringey, and annoying.
@Caroline the first book is GARBAGE. Through STRONG encouragement from my friends, I pushed forward into book 2. I also didn’t want to finish it (I’m seriously sick of Stockholm syndrome relationships in books). But I persevered and about 5-7 chapters into book 2, the story completely changed. Like a whole new f-ing story. I’m like, wtf.? But I really loved it after those initial shit filled chapters and the last book in the series I ended up loving. ?
The Warrior Maiden by Melanie Dickerson (hot garbage), I skimmed at least the last 3 books of The mortal instruments (He’s your lover, brother, no not that brother your other brother, not a brother, your lover again!)
Terry Goodkinds the sword of truth series. Those books had promise but i couldnt take his writing style anymore. It does not take 3 pages to describe one item!
Regina Brownell can I send my book directly to your Kindle? I guarantee you’ll like it. It’s actually written with strong female characters that don’t suck.
Wicca by Harmony Nice. Really just bought it because it was pretty cheap, I was kinda interested, and I used to watch her channel some time ago. I dunno, I guess it was really just an impulse buy after a shitty day.I didn’t really like the way she wrote it, she repeats a lot of unimportant things and I feel like a badly written blog would’ve been more entertaining/informative
I loved that one! For me it was Scythe.
@Sarah This hurts my soul a bit, but I accept your opinion! ?☺️
@Kaitlyn I don’t think it was terrible but I just couldn’t get into it. But in all fairness, I will probably try it again?
Six of Crows. I know everyone rant and raves about it, but I rarely DNF and I just could not get through it!
@Randi I felt the same way!
Twilight. Couldn’t get past the first half of the first book.

50 shades of gray. I couldn’t even get to the good stuff man.
@Sierra I’m with you. I read half of the first book and packed it in. Can’t even force myself to watch the movies.
Wildcard
The fifth wave. I just had to put it down and walk away. I usually love apocalyptic stories, but not that one!
@Jayson I couldn’t finish it either! I loved the movie but the book I just couldn’t. Which is really strange.

Where do I start hahaha…..Fallen, Harry Potter, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. And lots more ?
I didn’t finish I’ll Be Gone in the Dark. Great book but it scared the bananas out of me. I was home alone a lot when I was trying to read it and I kept getting so anxious I couldn’t finish it.

A court of thorns and roses ? really considered it boring and didnt get the hype at all, still dont
@Kari totally agree. The first book is for the dumpster.
I might give it another shot in that case…
Recently DNF’ed “You” and couldn’t get through “An abundance of Katherines” either. I barely could start “Eleanor and Park.” Lol
Candace Davenport me too! It took me a while to get used to the style of writing, but I loved them!
@Christy I definitely didn’t like it. The writing style and characters just weren’t for me
@Jasmine that’s fair enough. It took me a while to adjust to that style of writing but once I got to know the characters better it was perfect. Have you watched the tv series?
@Christy not yet!! My bf kind of spoiled it for me though so idk if i will now ?
@Jasmine Fair enough. It’s good but different to the books.
City of Bones
A better question for me is “What books *have* you finished?” ?
Mortal Instruments
at least three of the books are trash
I couldn’t finish Morning Star. I threw it across my room instead. ?
Acomaf
Daughter of the Pirate King
@Rei I was hoping this one would be good it’s on my next to buy list
@Heather it starts, so fast, like you zone out for half a page, some very important happened, then it turned SO sloooooooow. So everything happens, wah wah sob story, grab what i came for, the end. And the love story to me was just so cringey, and annoying.

The Warrior Maiden by Melanie Dickerson (hot garbage), I skimmed at least the last 3 books of The mortal instruments (He’s your lover, brother, no not that brother your other brother, not a brother, your lover again!)
I read a lot which means a lot of indie authors, so yeah, usually because of no editing ?
@Kayla I was going to say the same thing. I have no guilt over quitting a free download or KindleUnlimited book if it’s cheesy or amateur.
Same!!!! Ugh! Edit before you publish! I will quit a book in a heartbeat if if I keep getting caught up on errors. It jars you right out of the story.
Code Name Verity- I still want to try it again but I doubt I ever will
Allegiant
@Layken agreed!
It was really the second time read was really good but I listen to it.
The Hate You Give sucked
It was really if you listen to it.

I couldn’t finish it… everyone hyped it up and it fell flat for me.
@Alisha I want to get back to it because of the hype and I bought it at comic con
Terry Goodkinds the sword of truth series. Those books had promise but i couldnt take his writing style anymore. It does not take 3 pages to describe one item!
my husband swears by that book
@Regina i liked them but after 5 books and knowing there was 7 more i couldn’t take it anymore.
he keeps telling me to read it, and i’m like well if the main concept isn’t romance you can count me out lmao
Lol that’s the only part about those books that i enjoyed. Kahlan and Richard are romance goals.
Mortal Instruments I started the first book 3 times and never got through it lol
@Regina the first book is torture! I like the series but Clary is the most annoying character.

@Regina if it weren’t for Jace I never would have finished it.
I skimmed the last three books. haha
Regina Brownell can I send my book directly to your Kindle? I guarantee you’ll like it. It’s actually written with strong female characters that don’t suck.
@Camille if you’d like, I’d be happy to send it your Kindle too. I feel bad for those who got ripped off because of an annoying character.

@Linda sure ill give it a try. ill pm you my email
@Camille super!
Game of thrones ?? I couldn’t for the life of me finish that book
@Tanaya try listening to them. The narrator was amazing
Brave new world for me. I had to do it for an assignment so I think that put me off from the start. I may give it another go down the track.?
@Laura I really enjoyed for personal reading rather than required.
That’s good to hear! Hopefully I can pick it up again and enjoy it. I think because I had to summarise each chapter and find quotes it killed it?.
