Is there a way to get free books to read on Kindle app on my iPhone?

I have the Kindle app on my iPhone. Is there a way to get free books to read? I really cannot afford to buy ebooks.

I can’t speak specifically for Kindle, but I have Nook. I can search “free books”, or “books for 0.00”. Lots of good books, but they aren’t new. Or popular authors.

Or you could borrow from your digital library.

And make sure that you sign up for Amazon First (recently renamed amazon first reads), which gives you one free book per month, a new release, via an email that comes out at the beginning of each month.

Also, talk to your friends who also have Kindles. Some of the Kindle books are eligible to loan to other people.

Sign up for bookbub – you tell them what genre you like and they send an email everyday that almost always has kindle or nook books for $0.00 that you click on and “buy” through your amazon account. I have gotten over 90 in the last year for no cost. They ask you to rate the books but don’t require it.

I am a heavy user of Overdrive, that way I can download and read popular e-books and audio books for free. I set my loan period to 21 days and can place holds and wish-lists.

I live in a rural county where the county library can’ afford to have an electronic book loan system. According to my amazing librarian it’s expensive so you find these systems in cities or places with a higher population. That said I need to check out some of these other ideas. I’m going to check out Overdrive.

Ask your librarian if there is any way you can get an additional library card from the largest system in your state, in some states you can.

1
Kathy

I will check that out. Thanks.

If you live in Pennsylvania the free library of Pennsylvania is wonderful has a great selection of ebooks. Every state should have one of these.

Kindle unlimited charges a monthly fee but you can download unlimited books (as long as they are part of the program and a lot of newer books are not)

Sell Your phone, then you can buy yourself some real books. I’d rather have books than a phone any time.

In the UK (not sure if it’s the same everywhere) if you go onto the kindle book page then on bestsellers there’s an option for ‘free’ and you can download from there. There’s loads of classics for free – Jane Austen etc

Also, check your local library. Many lend e-books.
