I actually have been shopping for one myself. From what I have read the cheaper one has a book ad on the lock screen but goes away when opened. Does not affect the reading part. The higher price one is ad free.

I think one has backlight and the other you’ll need a night light or book light to read at night

$80 is just a kindle reader. $119 is the paper white. The regular kindle is good. But the paper white has a light built in so you can read in the dark.

I love my Kindle fire I can read it in the dark, but I think the paper white has more memory

I have had both, and I far prefer the Kindle white. It’s light and easy to hold while you’re in bed. It holds its orientation so if you move, the page won’t flip. You can dial the brightness up or down. It’s worth the extra money, in my opinion.

I need to make an addition. The $80 version is a plain kindle. It is not backlit.
