As long as you’re just looking for a fun read! And as long as you don’t them take it as historical fact and then hound your historian/archaeologist friends… Because it was not a great time for us when that book came out ?
Yeah – it’s one of those books that you barrel through (though I did recognize the ripoff from Holy Blood, Holy Grail), but doesn’t bear thinking too hard about.
No, I found it really bad and way too easy. If you like that kind of “religion and history based conspiracy novel”, I very strongly suggest this great book: “an instance of the fingerpost” by British historian and novelist Iain Pears. It’s absolutely brilliant.
I liked Dan Vinci Code. I like Dan Brown’s books with Robert Langdon (haven’t gotten around to his others). They’re interesting adventures and I love the clues and the symboliic/academic angle.
@Peter it is interesting to hear the opinions of others . . . Often I am the ‘odd one out’ in a group of friends who all like a certain book. Personality plays a big part in our likes and dislikes and I am definitely the ‘odd’ one ☺️ I love rummaging in second hand book stores, hoping to find something interesting I have never heard of before.
It is exciting and engaging. It seems realistic; I enjoyed it and the movie was pretty good, too. If you didn’t read the book first, you would be lost in the movie.
@Hannele, yes, a trip to the book store to find new books would be the highlight of my day. I love to find new books by favorite authors, or better yet a book by an author I have never read before that intrigues me.
I used to own a used book store, and my favorite part of any day was when someone dropped off a box of books that I could look through. Most of the time it was just more items to sell, but once in awhile a gem would turn up that I knew I had to keep for myself to read. I really miss that part of owning the store now.
YASH! Got creeped out for the first few chapters, stopped… but you know it’s a book, and I can’t bear to leave a good book unfinished… got my faith intact… I promised no matter what my religion got nothing to with the book… then read on. ?? The lesson this book gave me: What really matters is what you believe” MUST READ!
This yes or no thing doesn’t give much in my opinion, but if people say why they liked it or disliked it you might get a better idea of what kind of book it is even if you don’t agree. For example if someone says “I hated/loved it because it is so fast paced and about all these conspiracy theories” that allows you to make up your own mind even though the commentator has got an opinion.
@Hannele I loved having it, just couldn’t figure out how to make any money at it. Now I just sell books online, not as much fun, but much less overhead.
@Disa, that may be the value of belonging to a book club. I never have though as I am a reader who has more than one book on the go at once and time restraints would burden me.
Yes
I enjoyed it. It’s not exactly a classic, but it’s fast paced, easy to read & enjoyable.
I enjoyed it and kept my phone close to look up things. I ended up buying the expensive book with diagrams.
I thought it was awesome. Definitely try and grab the copy with the photos in it though, it really enhances the story. Made it very cool.
I didn’t like it, at all. But I read angels and Demons first. Which, imo is a million times better. But I know many people who loved it

I liked it, but I like Angels and Demons more.
I enjoyed, altho its premise is fanciful.

Yes, once you start with Dan Brown you will want to read all his books. Very good author.
@Peter I can’t think of a nicer job!
No
Oh yes. Many “all nighters” with that one. Hard to remember that’s it’s fiction!
It is a page turner.
It’s nothing memorable. However, I found it a quick read. Good to kill a few hours with. Did not inspire me to read anything else by him.
Yes. I loved it.
Yeeess!!

Of course it is worth reading.
OMG DEFINITELY YES
YASH!
