I liked it. Just be aware that there will be slow parts. Some people do not like them.

My Mom loved it and ready every single one. I read the first one and was done, but that’s just me. Try it and see what you think. It may be the series you love.

Yes but watch out on some of the subsequent books, they are long and have lots of detail, all for a reason. They are totally worth it though

I will tell you that it took me until at least page 100 to get in to the first book and if I didn’t have a friend who wouldn’t let me stop, I probably would have. But once I got past that point I couldn’t stop and was very glad I didn’t.

I’d say watch the TV-show, it’s better. It concentrates more on the plot and not Claire and Jamie shagging.

I didn’t like it. It’s a good story. But has too much sidelines. It took 700 pages to tell a story that could be told in 300.

Most people like it so give it a try! It wasn’t for me but chances are that’s unusual.

It’s a looong one. Only if you can commit. I know i haven’t. I’d rather watch the TV Show. My friend however has, and is quite fixated on it

I thought it had a great premise, but it was a little too romancey for my taste.

Same for me. I was surprised how cheesy it was.

I’m reading the first book now and I love it. I also watch the show as well! I’m almost to season 3!

The romance is most significant in the first couple of books – later on the focus changes to “bigger” things. I’v read the series 3 times and I intend to reread them again some time, probably next spring 🙂

I have been watching the PBS series , “The Great American Read”, and last night they announced the top 5 books out of 100 voted on . The Outlander series came in at number 2 . That ‘a a pretty good recommendation for me.

Depends what you’re looking for…. I read the first book, and thought it was a good story and well-written, but there was much more of a romance angle than I prefer!
Basically, if you like historical romance, or historical fiction and can ignore the romance, you should enjoy it!

Have you really read the books?
I’m so hurt right now, Lol!!

@Shanny I read the first four but I prefer the TV series. No t sure why this is such an issue for you.

0
Nicole

I do too! And yes I’ve read the books. It’s one of the few times I would say I like the show/movie over the book it’s based on.

The filler is what I love … the details of daily life long ago! I love the tV series but hardly any of that is captured.
