I don’t read her much anymore. Is this part of the Kay Scarpetta novels? I tend to find that her earlier Scarpetta is so much better than her recent books. I don’t like the character much anymore, to be frank. Have you read Cornwell’s other work?
I read the first 8-10 books by Patricia Cornwell and thought they were excellent. Went off them when Scarpetta’s niece grew up and joined the FBI. Then Kay Scarpetta went and behaved in a ….(I won’t spoil it!) and Cornwell seemed to run out of ideas…or I’d outgrown them.? Lately I’ve discovered Kathy Reichs. She is truly an amazing writer. Agree with a couple of the comments, namely by @Paula and @Tiffany.
I started out as a big Scarpetta fan but they got more involved with the dysfunctional niece and Scarpetta became so depressed and depressing all the time that her last books just brought me down and was kinda the same old, same old.
I started it awhile back but couldn’t finish it.
I love all of the Kay Scarpetta books
Have you read the other Kay Scarpettas?
Wait is this a series? I just pick this without giggling it?
@Lorshi oooh yes, start at the beginning! Postmortem from 1990. Frankly it’s the earlier books that’s her best work
The Scarpetta Series is Truly Amazing! ??
I much prefer the novels of Kathy Reichs.
I think Patricia Cornwell’s The Bone Bed is definitely worth a read.
I enjoyed it.
A little off the subject but why do so many books have the words Bone or Bones in their title?
@Paul for the same reason so many have “Girl” in the title, draws you in and sounds ominous
@Paula It’s become so ubiquitous it actually turns me off regardless of how good the book.
I love all her books ?♀️
Yes
Yes, indeed. Then u will be “hooked” on Scarpetta!

@Jacqueline Same here. Too depressing and the niece was totally unlikable.
I agree with you both, Jacqueline Bryan and @Deborah. Thank goodness we’ve got books by other authors to read!
Must admit – haven’t read Patricia Cornwell for years! Never even heard of The Bone Bed.?
I’ve read a few of her books and enjoyed them
