Sounds like you are one of the luckiest person in the world, with kids and happy married life ??

0

Yeah! That’s what I think. And on top of that, we left the rainy, stormy, unpredictable Dutch weather behind and exchanged it for the year round shorts and flip flops in Phoenix..
can’t get any better than that!

(But most readers I know have families!!)

Not for me! I’m married, I work, I have friends and family. I adore my books, but they aren’t my entire life. For those who are alone, I’m glad you have books as companions! It’s a mistake to think all avid readers are lonely in real life, though

It’s one of the wrost Of the things And as well as good to be alone because in future when you’ll be happy , You will know the value of happiness and when any bad moments will come again- you will respect it…☺☺

I’m married and we are very close to one of my husbands bros, my SIL (who is also a childhood friend) and their children. In fact I’m currently laying on the floor of our nieces room right now to go to the middle child’s kindergarten graduation tomorrow and because it was my birthday today. So I would definitely say no, I am definitely not a bookworm who is alone. Also, I’ve heard that book clubs are a good cure for being alone as a bookish person. Even for introverts like me. ?

I am a complete loner. My mom is a designer, my father is an engineer. My little brother, we’re not close, he’s always away. I love reading and people at school thinks I’m a Freakazoid! That’s why my only life lines are books and social media. In real life, I never talk too much. Maybe because I had no one to talk to.

If I understand your meaning, I work 70 hours a week, so I really do not have the time for relationships of any kind. I do have a few friends who just so happens to be book nerds too.
I can go a month without human interaction.
I do have a dog and a few cats, plus all my books. So I am never truly alone.

YES, it is, if we don’t keep the balance.
If we want to make friends, we have to invest enough time to give them attention.
The problem with a reader is all free time is invested on a book, full attention is invested on a book. Hence a reader’s friend is a book.
Real life friends may get tired of expecting some attention and leave
A reader may miss even a family gathering to finish a book creating endless excuses.

I’m a homeschooling mom….I’m never alone. Reading in the evenings after my little goes to bed is my best option. My olders are readers too so when I cuddle down with a good book they’re usually right there with me. Last night we were all heaped around with very different books: Pocket watch Chronicles, Catching Fire and The Candymakers. My husband walked through the room and didn’t bat an eye. 🙂

I am married but am fortunate to have a hubby who is a reader, too. That is what brought us together after we each had failed marriages with non-readers. We have been together for over 30 years. Thank God he loves the Outlander series as much as I do plus lots of other authors in common, like John Stanford.

It’s true for me. But I’m also a writer, and writers are almost always alone, or try to be. But I live alone, have no SO and no grandkids, and almost all my family members have moved away from where we all grew up. There are few people in my complex that seem to want to be friends, so yes, I’m usually alone with my books.
