Well, for me usually it takes a bit longer to finish every book this way but I don’t mind it. You can choose books of different genres so as not to get confused. I am reading two paperbacks and an eBook in my phone.
@Fro, I have, but I found it too confusing. I prefer to enjoy one fiction book at a time. I can read two nonfiction books at once, though, and it doesn’t bother me.
I used to strictly only read one book at a time but I’ve started reading two sometimes. it’s not hard for me. I don’t get the plots or characters confused. it’s not hard for me to keep things separate 🙂
I’m switching between three books right now. I’ll read one in the morning, switch to another later in the day, pick up the third the following day, that sort of thing
I just read what I feel like, what fits my mood. Sometimes I’ll read half of one before jumping back into another. They’re usually different genres, so that actually helps.
God bless you that’s pretty good, and those that you read now seems to fiction but I’m interested in psychology I guess it’s hard somehow to read more than one about it!
@Fro hi Fro, do you mean the genres have to be different? In which case, generally yes, I try and have different ones eg 1-2 murder mystery or legal mystery, 1 comedy or life type (drama) and 1 non-fiction. Sorry, if that is what you mean. Cheers.
Yep! I just finished 2 of 3 I was reading at one time, and dove right in to haven’t 4 going at once. ? I read each at different times of the day, whatever works for you, go for it! ?
Yes. It’s not as hard as it sounds. If you change the perspective, it seems simple: Think of how many tv series there are. People watch one show, then another, then another. They need to remember all the details to understand what’s happening on the next week’s episode…with every show they watch. I know the brain uses different parts for reading vs viewing, but it’s a similar concept. I typically have several books going at any given time…at least 2 anyway.
I do literally agree with that,I really really want to try it out but now I’ve exams and stuffs to deal with so now I’m just thinking about how to choose them?like do you have any idea bout that?
i am a college student. i know what it is like. still i can read like three books during my exams and i am a Muslim; i read and study while i am fasting. And ….yes you can.just try to organize your time.
Yeah I’m doing an audiobook and a paperback mainly because the audiobook is pretty racy and not suitable when my kids are home + I have to share the computer with them.
Absolutely! I’ve been known to have one in the living room and a different one in the bedroom and even then to be in the middle of either and start on another.
@Fro, I do at least one fiction and one nonfiction, pick them from my have to read list, and/or close my eyes and just grab! And sometimes I end up on a 21 day reading marathon with 4 books from the library because all of the ones I had put on hold become available at the same time.
By genre! Sometimes ill read a mystery/thriller, fantasy, and romance all at once because i never know what ill be in the mood for and i switch back and forth
Well I might include some non fiction or classic literature with my novels but I’ll also just read multiple novels at once. I don’t have any problems confusing them
I have one on my phone, one on my kindle, on on my nook, one on the couch and one next to the bed right now. I had stopped reading multiple books at a time a few years ago but now that I have an infant my husband does his best to keep reading material in arms reach of me at all times.
I have a set amount of the Bible that I read every night. I’m reading a book by James P. Clapper at the moment but when I’m tired of thinking hard and need something “mellower”, I switch over to a fiction book or the book on pets n the afterlife. All very interesting. It’s like chocolate fills the need for dessert but bananas fill the need for fruits. ?
Some linger with a book till finish. Some others read more than one book choosing their timings depending on their moods for serious or light reading. Is there a compulsion to read one book at a time?
I read four usually but it’s how I read them 1 kindle I Audible 1 just for my commute 1 when I’m at home/park etc So they could possibility be similar books lol
I always have 3 books going at the same time. One paper which I read during the day;1 ebook, which I read in bed; and 1 audio book which I listen to as I walk the dog, cook, etc.
I’m actually not sure how many books I’m in the middle of. Probably 6-10. But I’ve probably started like 30 in the last few months that I haven’t finished.
I’m going to be different here – when I read a book I usually pick something that I know I will like so once I get started I can’t stop! There are books that I’ve abandoned at some point and I think they will remain unread.
I read up to 3-4 at once but they have to be different genres to me. Like at the minute, I have a romance (which I don’t have to focus hard on ?), a young adult fantasy, a young adult western and a classic
It’s more of an eyesight and time thing with me now. I’m farsighted, and I have a long commute to work. It just made sense to read that way. You ma’am…you’re kinda my hero. My sis reads like that. I can’t do it. I would have to be zen planted somewhere forever to do that. But good on you. I love your love for the word 🙂 I love it too. Loving it like you would make me crazy though…
I read many books at a time. One is in the car, another in the bathroom, a Jodi Picoult in the kitchen, one in my purse and several by my bed. Depending on what I want to read is what I pick up for the evening. I tend to get bored easily or get tired of reading a certain author.
@Kayla Exactly! I’ve read more in the past few years than I ever have because I switched to reading multiple books at once. Now I try to convert others like my sister. ?
I’m currently reading 4. The trick for me is to read different genres. I currently have a chick lit, YA fantasy, YA Dystopian, and a reread (another YA dystopian) going.
For some people. Not for me. I get completely immersed in the story so reading something else at the same time would be too conflicting for my fantasy-world loving soul.
I’m reading three right now, 1 fiction, 1 nonfiction adventure, 1 nonfiction social commentary (they have to be very different for me to read them at the same time)
Of course.
I’m reading three at the moment.
That’s pretty good,it’s more like “living faster”,but how is it possible? And how to choose’em?
Well, for me usually it takes a bit longer to finish every book this way but I don’t mind it. You can choose books of different genres so as not to get confused. I am reading two paperbacks and an eBook in my phone.
how am I suppose to wait till the exams are over to try it out?thanks a lot miss♥️
Mister ??
I can do it if one is fiction and one is nonfiction.
So you mean to be way much different? Have you ever tried to read books that match each other?
@Fro, I have, but I found it too confusing. I prefer to enjoy one fiction book at a time. I can read two nonfiction books at once, though, and it doesn’t bother me.
that’s more like a game for brain, and that’s amazing,I’m just gonna try different once like you said thanks a lot ?
@Fro, happy reading!
yeah….a lot of people do.
But how to do that!i mean is it depend on what you choose?
I used to strictly only read one book at a time but I’ve started reading two sometimes. it’s not hard for me. I don’t get the plots or characters confused. it’s not hard for me to keep things separate 🙂
then I’ll try it out to figure it out if it’s hard or not?thanks a lot
I do it all the time, not simultaneously. Sometimes I have up to three books going at a time.
You mean leave them half read?
Fro Mariwan well yes, but only briefly. I read a chapter or two of a book, then change to another as a respite of sorts. Keeps you mentally nimble 🙂
haha well that sound much like a game, try to finish them maybe that’s how you can suggest another to read it!thanks a lot.
We should have a little clarity here, just so that we are on the same page. Do you think that I don’t finish the books?
sorry it just seemed like that?
That you would even consider that from a member of a book group speaks of a somewhat askew view of us.
Yes!! Im reading The Last Mrs. Parrish and 11/22/63
That sounds good can’t wait to try it out thanks ?
They are both great books so far!
how you choose them?
I just try to keep the genres different enough that i don’t confuse them in my head! Like horror and romance for example
Not for me.. I like my books like I like my men.. One at a time but I move from one to the next fairly quickly ?
Hahaha god keep’em for you,you leave them half read then?
Definitely for me! I’m doing it right now
How you choose them?
I’m switching between three books right now. I’ll read one in the morning, switch to another later in the day, pick up the third the following day, that sort of thing
That’s pretty good you settle time for them, but how you choose them?
I just read what I feel like, what fits my mood. Sometimes I’ll read half of one before jumping back into another. They’re usually different genres, so that actually helps.
I like to read one book at a time
Have you ever thought of doing more than one?
Yes but I didn’t like it
But of course ?
I read many because of school and work obligations. Currently reading 10.
Well it sounds good but not when you need read engineering lectures ?
Always
I’ve read as many as 6 at a time
God wow that’s great!! But how you choose them?
@Fro this is going to crazy but I pick based on title and covers.
ain’t crazy cuz I used to do the same sometimes ???
I read 4-5 at the same time
That’s just so amazing!but I’m struggling with choosing’em!
Bookmarks are a must. 😉
It’s possible to read three or four different books at the same time! Eventually you settle on the one that’s the hardest to put down.
You mean read them then you choose which you keep on reading!
Right!
I usually have 3 going at a time…?
That’s amazing but how to choose!!!
@Fro Usually have them in separate rooms. Do non-fiction and fiction. Then depends on my mood.
???
I’m really interested in novels and psychology and maybe I’ll try them together somehow, thanks a lot?
Yes
Yep
Yes I just started, as of now I’m reading the unbecoming of Mara Dyer and Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix
God bless you that’s pretty good, and those that you read now seems to fiction but I’m interested in psychology I guess it’s hard somehow to read more than one about it!
It’s possible. I’ve done it before but they have to be two different types of books for it to work for me. Otherwise I get the stories confused.
What you mean “have to be two different types of book”? Like fiction and psychology?
@Fro, well for me it can be like a mystery and a historical fiction. Or maybe a cozy mystery and a romance. I just can’t have two of the same genre.
Yes, I read 3-4 books at a time, a couple of different genres. Always done that, it’s great.
Have to be different?
@Fro not sure what you mean?
@Fro hi Fro, do you mean the genres have to be different? In which case, generally yes, I try and have different ones eg 1-2 murder mystery or legal mystery, 1 comedy or life type (drama) and 1 non-fiction. Sorry, if that is what you mean. Cheers.
sorry the genres!
Ow no thanks a lot sir that’s good thank you
Yep! I just finished 2 of 3 I was reading at one time, and dove right in to haven’t 4 going at once. ? I read each at different times of the day, whatever works for you, go for it! ?
That’s a good idea I guess to read them at different time of the day, thanks but how you choose them?
Yes
Yes. It’s not as hard as it sounds. If you change the perspective, it seems simple: Think of how many tv series there are. People watch one show, then another, then another. I do literally agree with that,I really really want to try it out but now I’ve exams and stuffs to deal with so now I’m just thinking about how to choose them?like do you have any idea bout that?
Yes it is..
Yes
Yes, i’m jumping between 15 books atm i think.
That’s amazing ?
I don’t like this kind of reading, i can’t fall in love with too books at the same time
So you didn’t try it out cuz you can’t fall in love with several ones?or you’re just like having exams?
I won’t concentrate with more than one
Yes and Yes
pretty normal
But how?if you were having lecturer like me you would never say it’s normal?
i am a college student.
i know what it is like. still i can read like three books during my exams and i am a Muslim; i read and study while i am fasting.
And ….yes you can.just try to organize your time.
God bless you, that’s pretty good, and yeah I’m reading “Sinoha” right know I was just wondering bout do a multiple books at the same time, thanks a lot.
you go ,girl?
Yes, different books for different moods
That sounds amazing thanks
I do.
Yes:) I do it all the time.
Yep! I have 4 going right now
How you choose them?
Yes ??
Yes
Yes I have done it and my daughter does it too
Ow god that’s adorable ?
Absolutely.
All the time!! ?
Yes
Absolutely.
Yes! Always
Yeah I’m doing an audiobook and a paperback mainly because the audiobook is pretty racy and not suitable when my kids are home + I have to share the computer with them.
And that’s amazing never tried am audiobook, thanks!
Depending on what your in2 I found a stash on you tube and my local library has a nice range too.
I’ll plan to try that too thanks a lot
yes i have done it
Absolutely! I’ve been known to have one in the living room and a different one in the bedroom and even then to be in the middle of either and start on another.
Well that’s pretty amazing you all got me to try it out thanks a lot
Yup.
I read a printed book during the day and an e-book in bed at night. I read two different genres so they don’t run together.
How you advise me to do like it’s my first time?
@Fro , do you have a Kindle, Nook, or some other e-reader ? Or do you only read printed books?
i only read printed books usually
@Fro what kind of books do you like best? Fiction, non-fiction, mysteries, fantasy, action/adventure ?
fiction and non-fiction
Oh yeah… I do all the time
Oh yeah, audible going in truck! Book by the couch and one by the bed! Oh yeah audible also in shower!
Amen!!!
I’ve read 3-4 at the same time. I almost can’t just read one.
That’s amazing but how you choose the genres of them?
@Fro, I do at least one fiction and one nonfiction, pick them from my have to read list, and/or close my eyes and just grab! And sometimes I end up on a 21 day reading marathon with 4 books from the library because all of the ones I had put on hold become available at the same time.
Of course
I am currently. This Love Story Will Self Destruct and Dolled Up To Die.
Thanks a lot for shearing and telling you all got me to try it out,god bless you.
I once read 12 books at a time.
That’s just so amazing!
All the time….Especially with an e reader because the library is always there…..lol
I do prefer the printed book more, don’t know if it effecting!
i read 3 or 4 at once
For sure. I read 3-4 sometimes
That’s amazing but how you choose them?
By genre! Sometimes ill read a mystery/thriller, fantasy, and romance all at once because i never know what ill be in the mood for and i switch back and forth
well it’s my problem don’t know if I have to match them I mean the genres, thanks a lot miss.
I’m personally incapable of it
Have you ever tried to do it?like I’m busy with the exams now but I’ll do that after’em!
I tried. Couldn’t do it
maybe that was because of the genres of them!
Spring Forward and Ready Player One
Yeah I’m reading like 5
Any advice how to choose them?
Oh I have a massive list. I just do the one that I’m thinking about most really
Like fiction and historical?you match them together or just choose them randomly!
Well I might include some non fiction or classic literature with my novels but I’ll also just read multiple novels at once. I don’t have any problems confusing them
It’s actually not great. I keep starting books and I never seem to finish them
That’s what I’m scared bout! I just hate myself when I leave a book half read! But thanks a lot♥️
Oh absolutely
Yes. I always do that.
I do it all the time. It’s not difficult at all for me. I’ve never once confused a storyline. Some people can’t do it though.
Thanks a lot that’s pretty good,I’ve never tried it out I guess that’s why I’m confused bout!
Yes but I always end up pushing one aside.
So you do it to choose one?or you finish them together?
It’s confusing for me yet I do it ?
That’s what I want to do,I want to feel it when it’s confusing???
Yes
Yep…have 6-8 books in progress usually ?
Genres pls?
Currently…all science fiction and comic fantasy
Thank you sir ?
I have one on my phone, one on my kindle, on on my nook, one on the couch and one next to the bed right now. I had stopped reading multiple books at a time a few years ago but now that I have an infant my husband does his best to keep reading material in arms reach of me at all times.
Idk how people do it lol! I guess I’m the type to let a book suck me in & can’t start another until that one’s done?♀️
Yes
Why not,it’ll depend on your concentration
But it seems to difficult if you’ve never tried it!
@Fro it is possible
@Linda, you might like this book. I found it to be thought provoking and soothing.
So you choose the genres depending to you mood? That’s a pretty good idea!
I usually have 3 running at the same time. ?
My problem is with the genres!
Some linger with a book till finish. Some others read more than one book choosing their timings depending on their moods for serious or light reading. Is there a compulsion to read one book at a time?
I want to try it out, like if it’s possible, but my problem is with the genres sir!
Yes; some on my kindle paperwhite, hardback and paperback.??
I read four or five at a time. It’s no different than watching serval different TV shows. Throughout the week.
However the books that I read are a completely different subject matter so they’re easy to put down and pick up.
I try to read
1 fiction.
1 self help.
1 political
1 biography
1 history book
It’s easier to keep track of what’s going on.
I read four usually but it’s how I read them
1 kindle
I Audible
1 just for my commute
1 when I’m at home/park etc
So they could possibility be similar books lol
Yes
Yes I do it all the time
Yes
Yes. I’m reading 3 now (one is an audiobook).
I always have 3 books going at the same time. One paper which I read during the day;1 ebook, which I read in bed; and 1 audio book which I listen to as I walk the dog, cook, etc.
Yes. I do it fairly often.
I’m actually not sure how many books I’m in the middle of. Probably 6-10. But I’ve probably started like 30 in the last few months that I haven’t finished.
yeah I mostly have a few books on the go, different format, audiobooks, hard copy or ebook, so I can switch between them depending on my mood 😀
I do it all the time
I,never tried that i usally only read one at a time because i am scared i am gonna loose track of thenplot on one
Or leave them half read!?
I’m going to be different here – when I read a book I usually pick something that I know I will like so once I get started I can’t stop! There are books that I’ve abandoned at some point and I think they will remain unread.
I’m the same way.
Same
Well if only it’s possible why not try it??
I read up to 3-4 at once but they have to be different genres to me. Like at the minute, I have a romance (which I don’t have to focus hard on ?), a young adult fantasy, a young adult western and a classic
So you choose them randomly!?
@Fro sorta just look at my shelf and see what cover or title perks my interest haha
that’s better than being confused ?
Oh yes….
Absolutely!
Yes, i usually jave an evening book and a daytime book. However, if i get really engrossed in one i won’t put it down lol
Like you can’t let go?
I have different books for different moods.
I have like 5 books I’m currently reading
yes … I’m reading quite a few at once.
It is. Why not? We juggle tv and movies. I usually bounce between 4-6 audiobooks on a daily commute
Have tried the printed books?
It’s more of an eyesight and time thing with me now. I’m farsighted, and I have a long commute to work. It just made sense to read that way. I love music, but I got to a point where I saw the end of it, you know? I kinda saw that abyss staring back at me and realized I had something I needed to say back to it. I listen to learn.
Yes… My current reads, using the beautiful bookmark bought from @Amy in the cookie mystery ?
Ow that’s really beautiful ?
I mean I’m reading like 70 books at one time
You ma’am…you’re kinda my hero. My sis reads like that. I can’t do it. I would have to be zen planted somewhere forever to do that. But good on you. I love your love for the word 🙂 I love it too. Loving it like you would make me crazy though…
I’m pretty sure I am crazy ??but thank you!!! ??
Yes!
I may read two if one is pleasure and one is for a class I’m doing. But I often read one and audio another at the same time.
That pretty cool,I think I should try the audios too thanks.
Not for me, personally but I know there are some people that do read multiple books at a time!
That’s what I thought about, why not if it’s possible?but the genre matters to me!
Yep I’m current reading about 5.
That’s amazing god bless you!
Yes. I have a small book for my commute and a larger book at home.
Of course yes
Make sure you don’t confuse with the characters
I think if I’ve tried that I need to make notes of them cuz I read psychology and historical!
Yes, I always have AT LEAST 2 going!
I usually have 4+ books going.
Yes. I’m reading 4.
That’s just so amazing!
Thank you! I read 2-3 chapters of one book, then move on to the next & read 2-3 chapters, and so on. All four are quite good!
It is possible…
I can’t do it though, I need to be able to focus on one book at a time. Netflix is a different story ??
Well why not if you tried to make notes!till you’ll able to focus!
@Fro I can’t I’m afraid, I have problems with processing information. I like reading one book at a time anyway ?
then let’s be ordinary and do what we familiar to?
Lol! I’m the opposite. I read several books at once, but only watch one show at a time.
That’s great,I’ll do 10 at once just wait for me till I finish the finals ?
Yes, I have three on the go at the moment. I never read just one book at a time ?
That’s great!but the genres!?
Genres ? Well, they are usually all mixed as I do not pay a lot of attention to that; I just avoid Romance and Science fiction. ?
I usually do
Depends who you are. Me? No.
I usually read a book in a single seating, though.
Is it possible for me? Yes. Do I? No. I love immersing myself into the world of the book I’m reading and getting to know the characters. 🙂
I rarely read one at a time
Yes, I do it always.
If you are human then yes. A rock no!
I can’t handle doing that by the way you are pretty
Yes!
Im currently reading 7
Of course I read one with my granddaughter and one myself all the time.
I can’t do that but I am impressed with those who can!
It’s possible. But it doesn’t mean everyone does. I generally read 2-4 books at once. Then again, sometimes I read only one.
I usually read two or three at once
I read many books at a time. One is in the car, another in the bathroom, a Jodi Picoult in the kitchen, one in my purse and several by my bed. Depending on what I want to read is what I pick up for the evening. I tend to get bored easily or get tired of reading a certain author.
It is but not recommended by me
doing that all the time 😀 more than two actually ^^
it’s even better when your reading more than one
yes
Absolutley! ???
Definitely. Up until a few years ago, I didn’t think I could. Now it actually helps me get through more books.
Me too. If in reading just one and I get bored I’ll just go watch Netflix lol. But if I have other books going I’ll just flip flop to another book.
@Kayla Exactly! I’ve read more in the past few years than I ever have because I switched to reading multiple books at once. Now I try to convert others like my sister. ?
Absolutely!!! I’m usually bouncing between 3-5.
It is completely possible. I’m in the middle of three
Of course, always reading more than one book.
Sure. I do that a lot. I used to keep one book at work which I read during my lunch break, then I’d read a different book before bed at night.
ummmmmm…….heck yeah!!!!! I do it ALL THE TIME
yes its possible… 1 time i saw this book ” How to solve 50% of your problem” I ended up buying 2
Oh YES!! I’m reading a book about Natural Medicines,,,a fiction book,,,and the book Art & Wonder…You just never know what mood you may be in! READ ON!
Yes i do that all the time
Yep, one on Kindle, one “real” book, and an audiobook
that a girl…always cover your bases lmao
I’m reading three right now, 1 fiction, 1 nonfiction adventure, 1 nonfiction social commentary (they have to be very different for me to read them at the same time)
yah i’ve done it more then a few times
Last few months have been reading two books of two different genres otherwise I get a bit confused lol
