I gave up the attempt to be normal years ago. It’s glorious! I take my book everywhere. Parents at my son’s baseball games look at me like I’m crazy because I always read between innings (they look at me weird as they play on their phone).
I noticed that as well ..like it’s totally ok and normal to forget the world around you and play with your phone 24/7 but reading a book is “weird”

My mom had to physically prevent me from bringing books to Mass… I’m an adult now and I still try to have purses large enough to hide paperback books…. Otherwise, thank goodness for the Kindle app on my phone.

I listen to whatever book I am reading while shopping. If I had my way every book I have would have an Audio version.
i wish whisper sync was included in audible 🙁 would love the ability but refuse to pay for 2 versions

Whispersync is in Audible. I get discounts all the time that way. I will pay 1.99 for a book in Audible that if I just bought it in audible would be like 20 dollars.
If you have KU some books you can get the audio and written for free. I found Suzanne Wright that way. She has a great series you can read and listen for free on KU.

People don’t leave home without their phone. Drivers text and cause accidents and people text rather than speak face to face. Our constant companion cannot ja anyone and does not take away from spending time with others.

Is it normal to take it with? Sure. A lot of people keep books in their purses, cars, backpacks…Read it while trying to grocery shop? No. But, listening to an audio book on my phone while trying to make my way through the throngs helps keep me sane while I do mine!
