I’m the opposite! To start with I am a total word gobbler, easily devouring the first 2/3 of a book without fear or favour!
But then I hit the last part and tragedy strikes! Because if it’s a bad book my interest wanes, I read other books and either abandon it or slowly slog through if still curious.
If it’s a good book, exciting and fun and all the right things, then I STILL slow down as I don’t want it to end! I want to live in the world a bit longer so again, I read other books and slowly slowly savour the ending of this one! ?

My issue is that reading makes me sleepy. It doesn’t matter how rested I am :/

It depends on how many characters are introduced at once. If the story is zigging and zagging between many characters storylines, it really slows me down!

My almost 10-year-old reads faster than I do.

So… I’m a bit of an insomniac, and I take the train to/from work. When I start a new book, until I get fully invested in the story I fall asleep reading on the train almost every day! ?

Me too. I find the first 100 pages way longer than the last 100! ?

It really depends on the book. Some authors are what I consider ‘slow starters.’ That’s why I won’t allow myself to give up on a book until I have read through chapter 3. That often seems to be a turning point in many books.
