Yes! Discounts and free shipping. Lota of perks.

If you buy books, yes. For $25/year, you get an extra 10% off everything – even sales. And you also get tons of coupons that also stack with sales and your extra 10%.

I use mine ALL THE TIME. So worth it!

Just so there are no surprises, the discount does not apply to Nook books, but to me I buy enough other stuff that makes it worth it.

We use ours constantly. Not one for memberships, this one has proven worthy of our investment.

Worth it for the free shipping!

Yes, even though I buy books through other stores/online too.

Yes. When you buy in the store with a membership they can see if it’s cheaper online and apply coupons from online as well.

I think it just depends on how much shopping you do with them. I don’t shop through B&N to make it worth it for me. I do a lot more of my book shopping through Amazon.

1
Reply
Lindsey

Yes! And since they can look it up with your phone number, my sister uses mine too.

@Lindsey I think I have had my B&N card longer than my first credit card. ???

@Elizabeth same

@Meg agreed! I get more than books there for sure. Plus, it also gives a discount on my Starbucks fix while I shop.

Agreed! We saved a ton on legos over Christmas with our membership.

@Andie What @Stacy said above. We buy a lot of legos there. We have a lego store near us but our B&N has a better selection.

Depends on how much you spend at B&N. Since I primarily buy used books these days and buy kindle books more than nook books, it no longer really paid off for me to spend $25 a year just on a membership.

see this is where I am at a crossroads. I am the same, but I do buy toys for gifts and I’m wondering if it will pay for itself in toy discounts haha.

1
Erina

@Andie it might but you have to carefully check the exclusions, used to get me every time

0
Courtney

@Erina some toys & Games have coupon exclusions, but very rarely are there member exclusions. The nook if it’s already on sale and I think the book haul during the fall excluded it.

0
Kristen

You can add on the kids for free and get additional coupons.

Maile

For me it is but 1) I let my closest friends use my phone number, so it’s kind of a communal account & 2) the B&N closest to me closed and if my $25 a year can keep my other local stores open, then that’s a price I’m willing to pay.

I get my moneys worth on the 10% off and free shipping. But if you’re buying a lot of ebooks, it’s not as useful.

I don’t buy too many books. I’m a library girl. So I’m not in there all the time, maybe once a month, but between when I do buy a book, books my daughter needs for school and my love of Pops, I get really good deals. It was gifted to me because I was too cheap to get one myself but I’ve kept it up because it’s actually pretty worth it.

Absolutely not! Take it from someone who knows – they will be continuing to decrease benefits of the membership!

@Cathy they actually won’t be. They are expanding. They had a great 2018 fiscal year and they keep coming up with new ideas.

1
Leslie

@Cathy what Kristin said.

0
Cathy

Strange, since I saw not too long ago that another benefit had been removed. However, I definitely give current employees on the page credit for continuing to promote the member card. #1800

0
Leslie

@Cathy yeah, like 5 of us. Sorry you don’t like being a member.

0
Cathy

It just wasn’t worth it for me! Savings of only 10%, and sporadic coupons that don’t work on anything I want to buy just doesn’t cut it! In the interest of full disclosure, I sold a bazillion over the years!

0
Lila

@Leslie yes!

0
Leslie

@Lila and they should always ask if you have a membership. If they don’t they are not doing their job.

1
Leslie

@Leslie I go to two different B&N all the time, and ALWAYS order a drink, and have never once been asked at either one! And I’ve had my membership for years and years!

1
Leslie

@Leslie they always ask at my store. I guess all stores aren’t the same. Good to know!

0
Leslie

@Leslie I’m glad to know it’s a membership benefit! I’m going to always ask for my discount from now on!!

@Jennifer so not worthwhile to actually pay for it yourself?

0

@Kelly I’m sure it is. My mom continues to renew it. I don’t get one only because I use hers. Otherwise I would definitely have my own.

I’m a used book lover- can’t tell you the last time I bought a new book- I live for Half Price Books ?

Also- the ThriftBooks app is my best friend

1

Beryl

I used to have it but I just didn’t buy books enough to make the price worth it. I’m an avid library user, and when I do buy, it’s often used- Better World Books, Thrift Books, Half Price Books…. You can find so many used books in like new condition for cheaper than brand new!
