It’s actually his short stories that stick with me better, though I’ve enjoyed several of his novels. Dolan’s Cadillac, his retelling of Poe’s Cask of Amontillado, is brilliant.

The Stand. And I read the “director’s cut” which has deleted “scenes” from the original version.

I agree! His genre is not my thing. I read Hearts of Atlantis which was good. The memoir is a favorite of mine though.

I loved It, Bag of Bones, 11/22/63, On Writing, the short stories The Body (aka Stand By Me) and The Long Walk and The Dark Half. I believe he lost his way when he became sober in the mid 90s but he found it again with Bag of Bones.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. Honestly, not at all what you think of as Stephen King, but a story that has never left my head….and every time I’m on a trail in the woods it comes sneaking up into my mind.

I loved the Talisman – it’s awesome. A boy a traveler of two realms and some cool friends. That’s all I can say without diarrhea of the words!

The Stand by far is a close 2nd for me, then The Shining, Misery. Short stories would be Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the body and The Green Mile series.
