Oh hey, someone else recommended it. You’re actually the only person I know who read it. You might not have felt quite the same as this, but I cried my friggin eyes out at the end of Ruin, and at the end of Wrath.
The only other person that I know of that read this series is my best friend. It certainly got you in all the feels that’s for sure. Loved reading all 4 books.
Malice by John Gwynne. More than any other fantasy book I’ve read this leans into the GoT theme. Lots of characters, lots of different countries, lots of kings and queens and their men fighting each other for dominance.
I’ve recently started reading Robin Hobbs Assassin trilogy, now on the third book. I had to check when she wrote the first book as it felt like she was inspired by Game of Thrones. Ironically Assassins Apprentice (her first book) and Game of Thrones came out the same year, so just very random! Lol.
Winners trilogy. Political based war. Young adult. Romance. It’s great. If you like good dialogue and romantic tension, but fully fleshed out political conflict, it’s a great series
Try the Plantagenet and Tudor Novels by Philippa Gregory. Some of them are about the Wars of the Roses, which A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) seems to take some inspiration from. It’s technically historical fiction, but it does have some fantasy elements to it.
You might also like Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes.
Have you finished the other Books such as The World of Ice and Fire, The Tales of Dunk and Egg ? If so you can check Wars of the roses series by Conn Iggulden The Accursed Kings series by Maurice Druon (The series described by Martin himself as the original game of thrones) You might also like some trilogies from The realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb I have links for all of this if you want
The Faithful and the Fallen series by John Gwynne is a phenomenal series.

The Last Kingdom series by Bernard Cornwall. I think the series is called The Saxon Series but the first book is The Last Kingdom.

I really like the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop

David Eddings or Robert Jordan
Sarah J Maas books or Leigh Bardugo books
I’ll second Sarah J Maas. Try the series A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Her Throne of Glass series is also wonderful!
One daughter loves Sarah Maas’s Throne series. The other daughter loves the Court series. Both are very good
Mistborne series by Brandon Sanderson
The Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn books by Tad Williams. The first book is the The Dragonbone Chair.
Anything by Brandon Sanderson
Sarah Raasch- Snow Like Ashes x
Sword of Truth series by TERRY Goodkind or the wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

I don’t see the similarity but the Assassins Apprentice is way better than GoT.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss ??
i started this last night!
I’m so jealous.. I wish I could erase my memory and read it again.
oooh it must be good! when does it get really good? will it hook me from the start? i’m only a few pages in
starting a new fantasy can be so daunting to me because of all the characters and stuff they talk about that i have no idea what it is haha
It’s a slow burn.. I’d give it at least 100-150 pages before you settle in. It’s totally worth it.
Take your time.. there’s no rush.
lol you haven’t seen my pile of to read books that are stacked up!
Robert Jordan, Wheel of Time series.
