I seem to be the only reader in my immediate family (mom, dad, brother). My husband tries to read, but he always gets distracted by other things. He’s maybe read two books this year, while I’ve read 40.

Nope, both my parents are avid readers who instilled my love of reading at a young age. Their house is covered in books and they go to the library several times a week.

My husband likes to read but he’s a slow reader so he doesn’t do it often.

My grandpa likes to read the Bible and nonfiction books, and my grandma likes Christian fiction, but neither of them actually reads very much, so I might as well be the only one.

Me too. My dad read, but he died in 1985, far too young ? But my family now don’t read at all, unless it’s The Daily (Hate) Mail or Take a Break. Very sad, I think I must have been adopted! ?

I am probably the biggest reader in my immediate family, but not the only reader. Most of my family read at least occasionally, and a couple of my aunties are bookworms, as is my niece. 🙂

Neither of my parents nor any of my 5 sibs were / are readers . But my ex husband ( my daughters dad ) was and my ex boyfriend is ( he’s my sons dad ) , all 3 of my kids are and all but one of the grandkids are and exposed my sisters 3 kids to books while they were growning up and they all became readers . None of my close friends while I was growing up nor anyone in their families were readers either . And this is in a big city with both a State University and community college and they are all middle and upper middle class .
Most of the non readers have always made fun of how much time I spend , or as they tell me I waste , reading but they spend several hours every day in front of a screen .

I don’t understand why there are people out there that don’t like to read. It’s the best way to get away from reality. Tv is good to a point but reading is amazing!!!
