I’m starting “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern tonight. Without giving any spoilers, what does everyone think of the book?

So good! Really beautifully written
I loved it!
Yawn it was so boring. Like reading an art instillation.
There were highs and lows but overall a good read
It is absolutely one of my favorite books ever. Don’t focus on plot, focus on the beauty.
It is a slow start I will say but at some point it switched to amazing and It was one of my favorite books of last year.
I love this book ❤️❤️ one of the few books I actually own haha but like what others have said it’s so beautifully written and each time i read it I picture something different each time in my head
My favourite book
It’s slow but I like books that take their time with everything.
I thought it was fine. It took me a long time to get into it. I was disappointed with the end.
I thought I wouldn’t like it when I first picked it up, cos it’s not my usual type of book at all, but as I kept reading, the more it grew on me (and the cover is SO gorgeous), and about halfway through, I was like, I think I love this book??? XD It was weird, tbh! But yeah, it got a rare 5-star from me!
One of my favorites?? wish I could be reading it for the first time again ???
I didn’t mind it, had some lovely writing but I’m not a rabid fan
I really liked it!
To me, unique and unforgettable. Writing is gorgeous and detailed. I love atmospheric books like this-and done right. Truly artistic.
On my tbr, have a copy, can’t bring myself to start it
Reading it right now. It’s beautifully written and the world Morgenstern has created is nothing short of epic; but it isn’t a fast read. I’ve been reading it for a week and am still only a quarter of a way through.
Not a fan. Took me a looooong time to finish it
It was slow for me to get into but I ended up loving it!
beautifully written but somewhat disappointing
It’s the first book that I’ve ever felt like I genuinely hated.
Beautiful but it’s atmospheric and slow. If you only tend to only like fast paced, plot driven books then it’s probably not for you. I feel like it’s sort of like a modern Tolkien. You read 100 pages and you’re like I don’t really know if anything significant happened but I like it.
I was bummed that I couldn’t get into it!
Not a fan. I wanted to like it but it just never grabbed me.
I very much liked the story about the character Bailey but the main characters story dragged
I loved it! I liked imagining what each scene looked like. They were going to make it a movie but I haven’t heard anything about that in a while.
Gosh, I’d LOVE to see this as a movie!
They would have to put a lot into it to impress me. My expectations may be too high.
DNF
Loved it. But it was slow at first.
I liked it, but not as much as I expected to. It was worth reading to the end but I don’t think I’ll re-read it
Crap.
Ditto
I loved it, I thought it was beautifully descriptive. Bit of a slow burn but there’s so much magic if you read every word
I really enjoyed it but it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting so was a little let down.
It’s boring imo, I read Caraval right before and I preferred that magic circus way more
Wanted to like it, tried twice but DNF’d it both times
I absolutely loved it, although it did take me a couple of reads to understand everything that was going on
Loved it…until the end. Don’t want to spoil it for you at all but yeah, the ending pissed me off soo much.
Christina, me too about the ending! It didn’t piss me off so much as it didn’t live up to my expectations. I thought it was underwhelming and kind of a let down compared to what it could have been!
Loved it. It’s a stunningly visual book.
It didn’t live up to the hype for me. The writing is spectacular, but it’s very slow-paced that it took away from the story for me. I gave it a 3-star rating on GoodReads.
Just finished it a few days ago. I thought it was good for the most part but slow at times.
I haven’t finished it yet but I like it so far!
Loved it
<3
I haven’t read it yet. I own it, I think on kindle.
Nope.
i loved it. thought it was so magical. gave it 4/5 stars
I’m sorry I’m unable to put into words how much I love that book. I honestly don’t have the words.
It was on the cusp of great, but kept steady at “pretty good”
One of my absolute favorite books of all time ???
I loved it.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So much love!!
Loved it the first time I read it. But the more I read it the more I loose the spark I had for it
Very good!! I devoured it in a couple of days. Very fun read and beautifully written.
Honestly, it was just meh. I finished it about a year ago, and I don’t really remember it, but I remember struggling to finish it.
LOVED
I liked it. Not a favorite, but good.
I’ve read it a few times! I love it!
So much to love…I absolutely adored this book. Definitely one that I recommend often. I’m due for re-read.
I heard good things about it when I worked at a book store a few years back. It was frequently on our recommendations list.
It’s ok… honestly, the hype ruined it for me. I could have enjoyed it if people loved it less because it definitely could be better.
Mesmerizing. Words were like candy on the page. It’s slow because it actually builds the story…just enjoy the ride because the payoff is great.
I love it. It is just so visually beautiful and the ending is just beautiful ?
It’s one of those books that you either love or hate. If you’re a person that loves poetry then this is a book for you.
@Kistal I actually domt like poetry and loved this book. It’s been years since I’ve read it but I find the linkage between the book and poetry interesting. 🙂
??
DNF
SAME
It was slow for me, and it seemed like it jumped around too much. The end wasn’t as satisfying as I’d hoped either. ??♀️
So many people didn’t like it, but I consider it one of my all time favorite books.?
Dawn Christopherson Powers my top 5 books of all time
Same!!
One of my favorites too!
I loved it!! I would’ve plannned my wedding around it had I read it beforehand!
Unfolds nicely. Not as insanely amazing as it’s hyped, but very good! Beautiful images
I loved it so much.
Not one of my favorites. It had so much potential, but for me it started out slow and never got better
I’m seeing lots of very, very different reactions to this book ?
I loved it!
Wanted to love it but just couldn’t. I liked the description of the circus etc, but the actual story left me very cold. I can’t even really remember much of the plot because I was so underwhelmed.
Loved it! The imagery in the book, especially towards the end was beautiful!
I LOVED IT. Enjoy!
Most magical book I’ve ever read!
I LOVED it! It’s heavy on descriptions, because the circus is so magical and always changing, so I can understand what people mean when they say it’s slow. It’s become one of my favorite books though- I was accidentally late to work the day I finished it because I was so sucked into it. It’s beautiful
Saw at the shops today, looked really big so I was a bit concerned that it wouldn’t be finished if I don’t like the style ??♀️
A good read – definitely one of my moms favorites!
Love love love!!! One of my top favorite books
Great book to read before bed. It was so boring it gave me narcolepsy. YAWN just thinking about it ??
It is unbearable.
I loved it!!!!
I liked it. It was a unique take on the story.
It was interesting
I started it yesterday and so far loving it.
Beautifully written
Loved it!
One of my favourites ♥️
So much love for this book!!!
Loved it! !!! I won’t say anything more
Just started it as well! Interesting to see all the different opinions about it ?
So underwhelming ?
Magicaaaaal i loved it
Loved the story, loved the writing. It was different.
I really enjoyed it! The most location/description heavy book I’ve possibly ever read, but also the most atmospheric
10/10
If you end up liking this book, I recommend you to read Station Eleven next.
Wildly different in context, but it has sort of the same feel while reading.
I love, love, LOVED this book.
Extremely underwhelming for me. Don’t understand all the hype ??♀️
I didn’t finish it about 3/4 of the way through.i wanted to love it and couldn’t, but I loved Caraval! It seems that if you love one you don’t love the other. ?
aw! I loved them both!!
This is my favorite book. Extremely descriptive based, so you have to enjoy that piece, as the main plot is fairly obvious.
Love, Love, Love!!
Magical and easy to fall in love with x
Loved it.
Loved it!
I loved it! It’s so atmospheric and immersive
I loved it! I read it and listened to the audiobook. The narrator is great and adds so much to the story. I don’t remember his name, but he also narrated “Pushing Daisies”.
One of my absolute favorites! ?Jealous that you get to read it for the first time.
I’m almost
Finished and I’m
Underwhelmed x
I enjoyed the second half of the book enormously more than the first half.
I loved this book and was so sad when it ended! Absolutely perfect!
