Evacuating London by Frank Tayell is a good start to a zombie series. I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve read though I haven’t finished the series. The first book is free on kindle.

Oryx and Crake trilogy by Margeret Atwood if you don’t mind a bit of weird and Bird Box by Josh Malerman is a horror/thriller type book. Both are fantastic.

I loved Oryx and Crake, but it’s definitely an odd one.

Metro Series by Dimtri Glukhovsky. It’s based in the Metro (obviously) of Moscow, Russia. It’s really weird in some ways and pretty slow in others, plus translation is a little off but it’s my favorite post-apocalyptic series. It involves politics, survival, supernatural, etc. Also favorite post-apocalyptic video game series if you are interested.

The following Terry Brooks books are set in a post apocalyptic world. The previous books set in the Word and the Void trilogy setup the storylines in these series and help explain the background to them.

GENESIS OF SHANNARA

Armageddon’s Children
The Elves of Cintra
The Gypsy Morph

LEGENDS OF SHANNARA

Bearers of the Black Staff
The Measure of the Magic

It started off great, but I felt the characters were stiff and a bit boring. Maybe if it had been written in the first person for each character it would have been better. He dialogue was stiff too ?

1
Jeanette

Thanks! Sounds like I’ve not missed much. I was looking forward to it but other books have been keeping my attention.

1

I have to disagree! I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Year One, especially since Nora Roberts has not given this sort of book a try before. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series. My suggestion is to give it a go.

Have you ever read Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard? Centuries after the Earth is invaded and conquered by aliens, a young human man (one of the few humans left, all living in small tribes without even knowledge of technology, let alone access to it), gets curious about the world outside his valley. Of course, his girlfriend is captured by the aliens and he has to save her…..have fun!!
