She reads young adult and graphic novels, and is quite a fast reader in these books, but most reads have been darker books. We are on a mission to find positive stories.

Tapestry series by Henry Neff, parts of it may be dark, but I felt overall it was a more positive story. The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan and the Trials of Apollo also by Rick Riordan, or anything by Rick, like Percy Jackson, and Magnus Chase.

Diary of a Young Girl is positive. It’s only sad because you know what happens to her in the end. But the book stops before that.

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen (some of the descriptions make it sound like it’s going to be a sad book as it starts with bullying, but after that intro it is quite lighthearted and picks up the pace as the adventure runs on)

The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Are You There God? Its Me Margaret, and the Lucky Book Stable Series. I loved reading all these books when I was 11 – 13. I hope that she enjoys them.
