The Marked Series (Inception and Invidious so far). Not as good as I’d hoped for it. I’m overall not a fan of the main people in the books but as a series in toughing it through hoping it gets better.
I thought there would be more action. The description of the series had me excited to read but it’s been difficult getting through the characters. It could be because Im using the audio book instead of reading it as well. Sometimes the narrators ruin the feel of the books.
I read it before years ago but never had my own copy and when me and my bf were browsing a book store the other week I pointed it out to him and he secretly bought it for me as a gift for my birthday but it’s a really good book so glad to have a copy. It’s based on the author’s experiences of being basically so poor due to lack of work he is on the streets of both cities mentioned in the title and it describes all the people both good and bad he meets on his travels. It’s considered a very in depth and factual account of the time of writing of poverty and homelessness. A really good read. Hope this helps. ?
I just finished Bleachers by John Grishim !! I’m not a football fan but I really did enjoying reading this book !!! It’s about a high school football coach and the many kids he coached ! He was tough on them all !! They couldn’t decide if they loved coach Eddie Rake or hated him !!! In the end they realized he taught them all valuble lessons !!! They used these lessons later on in life !!! Really liked it !!!
It”s a novel about black american soldiers in Italy during WWII. So far one of them has found the head of a statue and is periodically turning invisible (or imagining it, not sure yet). There was a movie I haven’t seen. So far so good, we’ll see.
“Camino Island” by John Grisham. Quite the attention grabber from page one, at least for me. I started it last night while at work, and I am about 3/4 finished. I believe I shall start “The Only Child” by Andrew Pyper when I finish “Camino Island”.
A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin
Ged, the greatest sorcerer in all Earthsea, was called Sparrowhawk in his reckless youth.
Hungry for power and knowledge, Sparrowhawk tampered with long-held secrets and loosed a terrible shadow upon the world. This is the tale of his testing, how he mastered the mighty words of power, tamed an ancient dragon, and crossed death’s threshold to restore the balance.
I am worried about that already with the Red Queen. Tearling the second book threw me because there is some time warping going on, but if you can handle that, it’s EXCELLENT. I’m pondering rereading Three Dark Crowns too because it was so good lol.
At job training for my new job and have only be able to finish one article in the Atlantic magazine…will probably not be able to restart reading until next Monday ? must work to buy books and live
Reading #3 In the Outlander series. Completely addicted! There is nothin better than a time travelling, love story with a lot of twists and turns and surprises!
I just started this. It’s VERY quirky, and I’m tempted to stop reading—but I’m DETERMINED to read at LEAST 50 pages before I make any rash, judgmental decisions, and jump to any harsh conclusions!
I was reading The Grapes of Wrath, but I can’t seem to get through it. After page 109, I was through with it. It’s not a bad book, I just can’t seem to get into it. I’ll probably revisit it later. I just started The Girl on the Train and so far, so good.
I went back to “How to Read Literature like a Professor,” I’m on the first Interlude, about on the second one. I love to take notes on the books I read. But, the author tries to be funny, and either I don’t find his sense of humor funny or I’m just trying to understand the chapter better. (I want to be a Literature Professor but too busy) Maybe the author tries too hard, yeah that is it.
I am reading the seven husbands of evelyn Hugo about a old school Hollywood actress who grants an all exclusive interview at the age of 79… think Elizabeth taylor. Hope your day gets better if you need to vent feel free to message me even though we aren’t friends we are book nerds and we all need to vent sometimes! Hugs!!
It’s really just stress from figuring out how to pay to take my pup to the vet on a sudden kind of notice. when we’ve already had a really tough couple months.
Awe hun I am so sorry! As a mom of two fur babies I understand!!! I wish I had extra money to contribute but I am strapped as well. sending you giant hugs and good vibes
I’m readng Mr. Churchill’s Secretary, a Maggie Hope mystery. It’s set during WW II and tells about the perils of living in London during the Blitz. I like to read Historical Fiction and learn what people had to endue during certain periods of history.
Reading The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay. It’s been so long since I’ve gotten into a good fantasy series, so I’m really excited about it. Yesterday I also read Night by Elie Wiesel, and it SHOOK me.
I’m reading American gods, by Neil Gaiman. It’s a rich and interesting romp through the history of America and religions brought to it by a myriad of immigrants over the centuries, I’m really enjoying it.
Ghosts of the Titanic. It’s been interesting. And a bit humorous at times. Especially the story of the 1st class gentleman found escorting his mistress to the lifeboats. By his wife. ?

I’m reading City of Bones again. It’s interesting. Shadowhunters, vampires, annoying main character, werewolves running around NYC
I’ve read the first couple and liked em well enough.
Have you read the Infernal Devices and Dark Artifices yet? I’ve actually liked those better than the main Mortal Instruments series.
Nah I read the first three and then a clockwork one
My boyfriend just bought me this, I am going to finish it later, I only have around 60 pages to go. ?
Oh sweet. liking it?
I’m also wondering how you’re liking it. Have it at home but haven’t read it.

Reading Miracle at St Anna. Good enough so far. It was a real bargain so that’s why I bought it, but it’s been quite interesting so far.
I don’t know this book…
It”s a novel about black american soldiers in Italy during WWII. So far one of them has found the head of a statue and is periodically turning invisible (or imagining it, not sure yet). There was a movie I haven’t seen. So far so good, we’ll see.
oh that sounds pretty cool

@Belynda, I am truly enjoying it. It isn’t a thriller, but it does keep you wondering what the outcome will be.
The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas
what’s that about
I read The Robe a long time ago !! I’d read it again if I ever run across it !!!
The fate of Jesus robe

I am worried about that already with the Red Queen. Tearling the second book threw me because there is some time warping going on, but if you can handle that, it’s EXCELLENT. I’m pondering rereading Three Dark Crowns too because it was so good lol.

The throne of glass series is amazing, I’m on book three. There is only one problem, I work at a library and I keep checking things out!
