I’m going to read To Kill a Mockingbird and Pride and Predjudice for the first time EVER!! Better late than never, please don’t judge me?
Pride and Prejudice is great (but Emma is my favorite Austen novel),
Enjoy ?
I re read Persuasion and Mansfield Park recently after a long time away from Austen, and enjoyed them, but I need to go back to P & P soon. Probably my favourite Austen, as obvious and unoriginal a choice as that may be…
Not into anything by Austen but loved To Kill A Mockingbird
Same here ?
To Kill A Mockingbird is my favourite novel! Honestly, you’ll love it, it is amazingggg
Never too late! Enjoy.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a masterpiece. Enjoy!
And yes, we are judging you for that?
I know! Lol
I’ve read Pride and Prejudice for my English literature class back in high school, but never read To Kill a Mockingbird. I always remind myself to go and get the book out of the library, but due to other interests, I never pick the book up. I’ll have to write it down and get the librarian to find the book so I could add it to my pile of books to take out because I always forget!
My whole mission is to go back and pick up the classics I missed. You go!
@Ann agreed!
I had a health scare a couple years ago and even though I’m an avid reader I realized how many of the classics I missed. Since then I’ve been reading from a “top 100” list.
@Christopher that’s a rough incentive. I hope all is well now, and you can read just for the pleasure of it.
@Donna yes, so far so good. I do find immense pleasure from the classics but I do find myself trying to read too fast. I also found I’m not taking anytime between novels which doesn’t allow for reflection. Something to work on this year. 🙂
@Christopher A good reminder for all of us speed readers!
I read 5 books in January. Four fiction (including a Russian novel) and one non-fiction. Really need to slow down. They have somewhat jumbled together in my head.
@Christopher , what list are you following? I do that a little, but at some point want to make a conscious project of ticking off a formal list.
@Christopher I wish you well ?
Ann Bieneman the list I follow is an amalgamation of about 8 different list comprised by Joel Patrick at https://medium.com/ It is called “100 books to read before you die: creating the Ultimate list-medium.” Of course a number of books I read that I believe should be included are not on the list but I found it to be the most comprehensive.
I read both last year. Enjoy!!
To Kill A Mockingbird is my favorite book of all. It’s a life changing book. Enjoy
discovering a book every day is good
I only read them for the first time last year.
I just read Sense and Sensibility for the first time recently.
I just finished that one last week for the first time?
I’ve never read to kill a mockingbird. I didn’t like the movie so I never read the book :/
@Sharon not seen the film but I rate the book
I judge you to be; reading. Good work!
I recently read To Kill A Mockingbird. It’s up there with my favourites. Enjoy!
I read The Mockingbird just a couple of years ago and It was so good. I am sure if I had read it earlier, I would not have appreciated it so much… This said, still gearing up for Pride … not my style, maybe need to grow up a bit more ?
@Natalia I’m not really a romance reader, I think that’s why I have never been drawn to reading Jane Austen. However, I loved the movie Sense and Sensibility
@Stacey oh I am so no romance reader as well ;-)))) I could not even bring myself to read a comics version of the book ?. Romance marble is missing… maybe I should try a movie. Thanx!
To Kill a Mockingbird is a great read enjoy!
@Stacey her writing is really quite funny in a way that is difficult to portray on screen.
Wonderful!!
loved to kill a mockingbird could not get through pride and prejudice
Prepare yourself to fall in love.
Pride and prejudice is definitely one of my favorites books ever! It’s the first classic book I actually enjoyed reading…
I have still never read To Kill a Mockingbird, though it’s on my endless TBR pile.
