I’m curious: for people who use e-readers, do you ever finish a book and delete it? Do you keep all of them forever? Do you delete some, keep some?

I keep the ones I really liked or plan to reread. Others get deleted. I do the same with real books, keep those I love and donate the others to charity stores.
I delete the really stupid books. Like the super stupid ones that I’m embarrassed to have read and keep the rest. You never know when you’ll need a reread or reference a book when you’re reading a series.
Same. ?
I keep them, but remove or archive them from the device once I’ve read them.
I keep all but archive those I’m not likely to read again.
I delete the awful ones, and archive the others.
I keep all of them!
I remove them from the device, but they remain in the cloud.
I archive so I can bring them back & read again if I want. I have deleted a few from my account if they were truly awful
You can delete them? ?
In your amazon account – not through the kindle itself.
Melissa Tabor I know I’m kidding. I keep them all. I’m a ? hoarder. ?
I am too – my kindle is almost too full to download more I love the collections feature. But there have been a few that I have deleted because they were just too bad in one way or another and I didn’t even want it in my archive
You can delete them from the Kindle itself by putting your finger on the book and holding it down. It will pop up, giving you options. Choose remove from device. I delete them, but they’re always in the Cloud and on Amazon so it’s not like you’re getting rid of them forever.
Yeah. i have deleted and downloaded many a time.
Archive them
I delete them but they just go to the cloud if I need them again (But i rarely reread things.)
That is what I do, too.
I rarely delete.
Delete but keep list in Goodreads
Only if I hated it,,,
Very few. Only if I didn’t like the book.
Delete. I can download again if I want to reread
Delete or remove from device?
@Jane yes from device.
Do you mean actually delete or archive it in the cloud? I always archive it. But if you permanently delete something, you’d have to purchase it again.
I delete them.
Delete. Because I don’t have time to read something twice so I figured why keep it.
But you could share it with a family member, yeah?
@Lara Unfortunately I am the only reader in my family. The others haven’t even read a newspaper in years, never mind a book!
I wish we could donate ebooks we’ve purchased. It hurts my heart to delete.
I remove from device, but keep in the Amazon cloud. With access given to family members.
Delete
Can always retrieve again later.
I don’t delete ebooks , I paid for it , to me it’s like adding a book to my library.
I generally remove them from my reader, but I only completely delete from my account if it was truly terrible
Remove from device, yes!
Archive
I delete. They are in my amazon cloud.
I archive them
I used to delete but after last update on my kindle paperwhite, I can’t figure out how to do it anymore
Delete
I keep a few that I like to re-read if I run out of material on a trip, bit otherwise delete to free up space. Can always pull them down from Amazon again!
I delete them
Off the device but they still live in the cloud
I never completely delete from my account
Keep
I delete them from my home screen but they are always available to me if I wanted to download again
Delete lots of them
Keep.
Keep unless I didn’t like the book
Keep, I’m a hoarder
Keep. Unless it’s a rental. But very few of those.
keep
I delete them off of the tablet when I’m done so I know what I have left to read
I delete from my titles I’ve finished from “Downloaded” to this device, but keep in “All” aka the cloud…not necessary for any reason but personal preference. The only reason I do this is bc I read a lot of books at once and don’t want to have to shuffle through titles
I delete anything I finished but was disappointed with or anything I got through but won’t be reading again. Have to make room for the good stuff.
I delete the ones I don’t like. If/When I pass my e-reader along, I must remember to do a factory re-set. My brother bought an e-reader from the classified ads and the previous owner didn’t do that so my brother was the proud owner of a kindle full of smut! (Nothing wrong with smut, I like some myself, but I do think I would like to erase it from my e-reader before selling it!)
I delete them. I do have admit that even though the e reader is so convenient I still love the act of holding a real book. There is for me something so calming about turning the pages.
I delete once I’ve read it or if I start and decide it’s not worth finishing…
I never delete my books. That’s like throwing a physical book in the trash when you are finished reading it…The cloud is my bookcase!
I only deleted a few books I passionately hated. Like on a level where I was embarrassed I ever sullied my eyes with it. Lol
I’ve never deleted one
When I’m done reading a book on Kindle, I archive it, and often reset the pages so I can reread it. Occasionally I hate a book so much I go to my content administration and delete that book from my owners shop records, which deletes it from my library. Rare – but a few books aren’t going to stay in my library!
I remove it from my device, but I haven’t totally deleted any book from my e-library.
I never delete any of them so I can look back sometimes when I am ordering new ones to make sure I haven’t already read and forgotten about it. I made separate bookshelves in iBooks on my iPad.
TBR, Fav Authors, Great Reads, Chic Lit, Memoirs, Finished (for the ones that don’t fit in any of those), Started (for the ones I just could not get thru) and even on for my daughter’s YA.
I just bought a Kindle Oasis. Hoping I can do the same on that!
You can keep them on the cloud while not having them on the actual device
Delete
I archive them
I delete them from my device, but they remain in the amazon cloud.
I remove from the device, but I’ve yet to delete anything, even though I’ve read a couple of really awful books.
Typically, I download books from my library’s extensive selection of e-books. Once these loans have expired, I delete them from my device and my Amazon account because the content is no longer available and the titles clutter up my account. Occasionally, I buy books from Amazon. This typically happens when I‘m interested in a book and my library doesn’t offer it in e-book form, or I don’t want to wait an eternity on an endless wait list. I rarely permanently delete these books, but have done so in a few cases. More often, I’ll go on a binge where I download books because they’re free and the description sounds interesting. I generally find that 10% of the free books are excellent to very good, 10% are very good to good, 40% are average to just okay and the other 40% end up not interesting me or are just plain unreadable for a variety of reasons. I’ve become pretty ruthless with books falling into the bottom 40%. Anything that falls below average, including books I purchased, is deleted from my device and my Amazon account immediately.
I put them in the cloud.
If I didn’t like it, that sucker’s gone!
Archive for nook readers.
Keep some. Delete some.
I keep most. But there are some I think “froufrou – fun, but I’ll never read it again”. I definitely delete ones where I think “Why did I waste my time?” Kindle lets me decide if I want it to Be Gone!
Funny: I got a Kindle to decrease my paper book clutter (and dust mites in my bedroom) and now I have to start monitoring for digital clutter
They are all in my Amazon account so I remove them from my Kindle. My Mom downloaded the Kindle app on her iPad and is now working her way through my library.
Sometimes delete but they are not gone for ever. You can download it again whenever you want to reread.
