I absolutely loved it. It’s a much more “commercial” feel (comparative to current writing) than other classics. An easier read.

Yes, I wouldn’t describe it as a classic. I don’t read classics, I like Daphne du Maurier.

Rebecca is my favourite duMaurier at this point (working through her catalogue as I had only read a few as a teen)

I love Rebecca ! I have lost count of the number of times I have read it. It is not a classic in the style of Dickens or Hard. I would love to be able to read it for the first time Let me know how you liked it

I’ve never read books thinking, that’s a classic, that’s modern etc. Read it and enjoy it for what it is and hopefully you’ll love it.

As with all DuMaurier there is a lot of character/scene building which at times can get a little hard to stick with, but, as ALWAYS is totally worth sticking with because by the end you never forget it and wish it wasn’t finished. I loved Rebecca.

It’s not what I would consider a classic. Rather a great story that has stood the test of time. Very accessible writing.

I love Daphne Du Maurier! She was underrated, in my view. Her description of the house in Rebecca is magical. The characterization is good, too.
