I’m 140 pages in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and It’s kinda boring. Does it get better? Should I keep going?

I found the book unsatisfying. I finished it, but I have no interest in picking up the sequel. So I’d say no, but that’s just my opinion.
@Mar that was how I felt about the book as well
@Mar I enjoyed the stories much much more when the action moved off the island. It’s definitely not a thriller to begin with, I liked the slow character study, but it doesn’t feel like regular YA at first ,,,
I love the series, but I’ve seen that it’s not for everyone.
I loved it, but if you’re not into it by now then I don’t think you will be
Ya I was hooked right away I wanted to know what happened next but it’s kind of like twilight or Harry Potter it’s not for everyone
The movie was good.
I’m on third book. Loved them all
It gets a lot better. Keep reading. I fell in love about halfway through
It gets a lot better. I fell in love about halfway through
I loved the series! I hated the movie
Loved the book…the movie was meh
I found it rather boring
It doesn’t ?.. unfortunately I thought it was a bit of a let down
Glad to hear it gets better-I read a bit of it-wasn’t sure what to make of it-and set it aside for now. Will give it another go.
I personally didn’t enjoy it. I watched the movie but still didn’t feel like it was something for me to finish.
I didn’t watch the movie-on purpose-wanted to read the book first.
I really liked the book
Love that series keep goong
I watched the movie and it was kind of slow at the beginning, maybe it’s the same with the book
I have a lot of friends who really loved it, but I found it pretty mediocre and never bothered with the rest of the series.
I felt it was a boring book, the whole way through.
Pics were the best part.
Loved it… can’t wait for the 4th one to come out next month
Sometimes I love a movie, so I read the book..but some of them are boring or hard to finish. Like right now I’m trying to read The Virgin Suicides. Its almost been 2 weeks and I just made it past 100 pages..
I think it was kinda meh
I was bored at first. I felt the story really picked up around page 100. So, if it’s still not interesting to you at page 140, I would suggest giving up.
I enjoyed the first one, second book was boring I thought, never ended up reading the 3rd, though I do have it.
Did not enjoy it
No
I did not like it at all
I read the graphic novel version and it wasn’t my cup of tea
I thought the movie was better.
No, I powered thru and ultimately disappointed
I didn’t like it
Was also bored expecting more.
I loved it, but I also watched the Movie first with my Nephew. Maybe that is why.
I liked it! Has the narrator been in the house and met the children?
I didn’t care for it
The movie is nothing like the book. But I did prefer the books over the movie.
I found it boring too, so disappointing
I read the first book in the series and hoped it was going to get more interesting, but it didn’t.
I love the series. But I’ll admit they might not be for everyone. So if you don’t find it enjoyable just stop reading it.
No. I finished it, but the ending was just as meh as the rest of the book for me.
I really liked it, but everybody’s taste is different. I have a rule: I read the first thirty pages of a book, and if I still don’t like it, I stop reading it.
I also live by that rule. It works at least in 95% of books.
I stopped reading halfway through couldn’t get into it
Interesting and useful. I enjoyed the film, so now I don’t have to read the book.
The movie was nothing like the book
@Michele Then I won’t read the book because I liked the story in the movie.
I wasn’t a fan.
I wasn’t keen tbh. Only read the first one
I read them all. That creepy athmosphere of the real pictures with the story gripped me
DNF
Did not finish
I think it’s one of those books where either you enjoy it or you don’t. If you haven’t enjoyed it up until now, you’re probably not going to change your mind.
Lol I had the audiobook and still didn’t finish.
I read the first one.. But it was not my thing so I didn’t read the other books
I loved that series
Never finished it myself
Dnf – I thought it was boring too
DNF
DNF for me too however the movie i liked
Read the whole series and loved it! Love the originality?
I couldn’t finish it.
It started slowly for me but about halfway through it picked up and I ended up liking it. I haven’t read any of the others yet though.
I finished it but it was a hard read. Nit one of my favorites
It gets better..IMO!!
I liked it, my main problem with it though is I felt the chapters were far too long, so it could be a bit of a slog at times.
The series was a struggle for me, but a fan.
I read the first and second books. They are fine. Most books do start slow and then pick up.
Not for me
I didn’t think it was all that great
Made it further than I did. I wasn’t really keen on the writing, but I also felt it was really slow and a tad boring
I enjoyed the series
Not really. It’s one of those ” spurt” stories. Very disappointing.
