I am now reading Elena Ferrante – My Brilliant Friend. Set in Naples, it’s true, but still.. great book. First of a series.

“A Soldier of the Great War”–Mark Helprin. I felt like it was a love sonnet for Italy.

Something mob related. Palermo was was where the Mafia originated. That being said have a great trip and I hope to make it one day. My father was born in Cantania Sicily before immigrating to the U.S when he was 12. I still have a lot of family there I hope to meet one day.

Montalbano’s First Case and Other Stories by Andrea Camilleri. There is also a Montalbano mystery novel series, a great tv series, and author interviews on YouTube if you want the complete package. I highly recommend anything Montalbano.
