If it’s only one for a lifetime then I’ll pick something superdense like Gravity’s Rainbow (Thomas Pynchon).

I have never attempted finnegan’s wake, but my understanding is that a lifetime is not enough to unravel it lol.

@Amanda they have the movie from the 80’s which I always hated as a kid it scared me, but I read the book a few years back and fell in love.
