@Emily my 9th and 10th grade English teacher said books cry when you dog ear pages so that’s why I don’t do it anymore before that I did but only to my own book

0
Emily

I figure I keep all my books, so it doesn’t matter if I fold pages.

0
Emily

I also don’t do it to library books unless I do it without thinking.

0
Ashley

@Emily we’ll see you didn’t specify that

0
Ashley

Well in that case I feel better about that but sometimes we do things without thinking because it’s what we normally do

Lol I always use a bookmark but I never got the big deal about people dog earring pages..I just don’t do it because I’m paranoid it won’t stay and I’ll lose my page Lol.

0
Rachel

@Pamela It ruins the pages. Puts creases in them. They could rip and/or tear.
Keep them nice, crisp, and together!

1
Pamela

Yeah but every time someone says it here, it is normally their own copy. So it shouldn’t matter imo. But I also don’t check out library books anymore so idc necessarily

Returning a book a day late to the library and having to pay a small fine more than once

I take care of my books…except for my Twilight book. Dumped a full cup of water on it because I hated it so much.

I gave mine away as a good will offering, I was still midway through it?. So it benefited me by making someone else think I’m good and kind.

1
Rachel

@Nmesoma Bahahaha. Nice.

@Rachel as Santa’s helper, I consider that an act of kindness lol. You made the nice list!

1
Rachel

@维珍 I was trying to do the world a favor. My mom didn’t agree, and I had to take a blowdrier to it for hours.

Finding library books you needed to return but misplaced them when you needed to return them and then they reappear when it’s too late to do so.

From the library? Wow that’s horrible.

Suzanne

Nancy Lyga-Flick yup. I keep telling the librarians to just put the empty cases out and you have to bring up the case at check out to for them to fill with the game. They tell me they can’t due to space issues, but they can’t get the fact hundreds of dollars are walking out the door all for the price of a small file cabinet kept behind the counter.

1
Suzanne

I don’t steal them but too many others have. So sad. What would put me on the naughty list would be talking to long to librarians about good books and recommendations while other people need them to check out stuff quickly

As a librarian, late returns or none at all. ? Late fees that quickly add up.

I’ve had some fees that totaled 9.00 once here is 15 cents for every day it’s late and some of that fee was from a book I had already returned and some part of it was from one I was reading and forgot to renew

Sad to say, but I’m sure out there some where, someone has done this one. ???????
Finding a library book, that you checked out over 2 months ago, but couldn’t find it, and when the librarian called you on it. You said you returned it a good month ago. Then you found it, and had a friend return it by putting it back on the shelf, shoving it in behind other books.
Then the librarian called… another month passing, with the price you owed for the book $12.99 + tax. So your mom was very upset at the time, took you, and your friend with as she was at your house for a sleep over. You all went to the library, and your mom said that you, and she brought the book back when Elssie the elderly lady was working. All mom could think of was how are we going to come up with that kind of money. ?
So the librarian Ellen, your mom, your friend, and you went to the spot. Your friend, and you sat down on the floor, your mom started taking the books off the shelf. She was thinking the book could have been hid by slipping inside another book, between the cover, and pages. Lol. No book, but then your friend seen it stuck in the back behind a few books, at the end of the shelf. Tada… recovered book.
To make the story short… I was helped out by a girl who liked to read, like I did in junior high, doing just this thing. Mom never found out the truth. I still think of how I lied, that day, and the following month. Yes I confessed, about it a few months later, but I still think about it. I still love to read. ?

Lol… I’m probably still on Santa’s naughty list. Thank God, I have been a good girl since then. I get myself a present each year from Santa, and wrap it, write Santa on it shakely, put it under the tree, as there are other gifts from Santa under the tree for my grandchildren from Santa also.
