The outsider because once you read it, you are going to like molly(crossover characters from his trilogy book “Finding Keepers” then read IT it’s really awesome yet disturbing.

Its the Bill Hodges trilogy and the crossover characters name is Holly. I wouldn’t read The Outsider first as it does kinda give spoilers for the trilogy.

With all that time warping and so on. But King did write a novel (11/22/63) where protagonist uses time travel to prevent Kennedy’s assassination I think.

I like it because it’s not quite so dark. You get the flavor of Stephen King but it’s not too bad for first-timers who aren’t necessarily into horror. The Stand and It, or maybe The Shining, are my top picks, but those are intense reads.

@Laura I would welcome intense.

This is so hard! I’m between The Stand and The Talisman – both of them are sort of the more ‘dark fantasy’ side of King’s works…

Depends on whether you “like” horror or not. I don’t. But I absolutely loved 11/23/63, which is realistic speculative fiction.

I’ve heard it’s just average but I just got it yesterday so I haven’t read it yet. I’ve heard that it’s not his best work though.
