Thanks! That’s a series I was on a fence with. I might give it a try! 🙂

Ohhhh Rick Riordan’s books are all so, so good. I’ve read almost all his ya books and have enjoyed each one. My favorite series is the one that comes after Percy Jackson, where he’s a little bit older.

Leanne yeah I’m looking more for a 17/20 yo character with a strong personality. I read Miss peregrine, but I want to read something with a little older character. 😉 I wasn’t sure if Percy Jackson would fit that description. ? just for the author, I’ll just end up reading it anyway

Percy starts at 12, but the second series is when he is 16 or 17.

@LR do I have to read the first series to understand the second? I don’t mind reading them all, but just curious!

0
LR

I don’t think so! It will help, of course, because you’ll have back stories, but most of the characters in the second series are new to the universe.

LR

One caveat. It will probably spoil some stuff from the first series, of course.

@LR ok that’s what I thought!! 🙂 thanks!!

Is the Fallen Kingdoms a male pov? I feel like yes

Looks like they’re alternating POV. That could work. 🙂 thanks!!

Orson Scott Card has written many series with male protagonists. I recommend getting his books used, but he’s a brilliant writer.

@LR thanks!! 😉 I might end up reading all of them anyway. Looks like YA Fantasy tends to be written more from a female POV and wanted to have another view. 😉

It is awesome. A trilogy with magic, Romeo and Juliet love story mixed in, and an LGBT main male m.c.!

2
LR

Ohhh @Casia, Ima check that out, too. I’m always looking for good LGBT books.

2
LaurianeQuestion author

@Casia nice!! I just look it up!!

Casia

I really love the trilogy. It was the first time I found an LGBT that wasn’t contemporary.

1
LR

I’m excited that the whole trilogy is on kindle unlimited! I’m planning to get that soon 🙂

Another thing I like about it is the M.c. has poor eyesight. There aren’t many characters with a disability and being a badass.

Casia

I can’t gush enough about it. Lol

Really? Like, legally blind? Or just needs glasses?

0
Casia

You can be legally blind and wear glasses. My best friend is legally blind and wears glasses. He (mc) is both.

I asked in that specific way because in order to be considered legally blind and the eligible for benefits in USA, your vision has to be not able to be completely corrected. My sister and mother are both blind, not able to be corrected. I thought it would be really cool to have a blind main character so that my sister could read it and relate 🙂

I am in USA. So is she. She wears glasses and has benefits, but the glasses only make it easier for her to see. They don’t completely correct the blindness. So I get what you are saying. Ummm… I would say his situation is more like my bf, but it does change in the trilogy. I don’t want to spoil. 🙂

No problem! I’ll read it and probably rec it to her anyway. Blindness is seriously the worst. My sister wears glasses to help correct her additional near sightedness, but it does nothing for her eye disease.

Me on the other hand, if I lost my glasses, I’d be completely useless . My vision is 20/450. But with them, I get to 20/20.

What is your sister’s eye disease? My bestie has macular degenerative something or rather. She also has a floater. I’m not completely useless without my glasses, but I do get migraines if I don’t have them on for long periods of time. Blindness is something that scared me as a kid (anxiety related, no way medically backed). After meeting Crys, I realized that blindness is messed up, but you can still be badass. She’s one of my heroes. She has a masters in museum studies and tells it how it is.

Retinitis pigmentosa -tunnel vision. I have many relatives that have it, it runs pretty strongly in my family. But I don’t have it, and I can’t give it to any children, nor can they. We did not grow up with a lot of blind resources. Didn’t know they were available until my mom was in her 40s. My mom runs a huge farm, though!

She runs a farm?! That’s a lot of hard work. Kudos to her. I couldn’t run one. I can barely run my household. Lol

1
LR

She sure does! She’ll be 60 in a couple years, and is so happy <3
