I’m currently reading Thinner. I like it better than IT. Also, it’s 1/3 the size.

Cujo….it was the one that got me hooked on Stephen King. The movie does not do the book Justice.

The shining, its a big book to start with but it explains well the concept of the ‘the shine’ which is something thats in a lot of his books (and its excellent!) Don’t judge it on the movie though! Its SOOOOO much better than the movie!

It, 11/22/63, and the Stand are my faves but they’re are pretty hefty.

Start with something smaller – like Misery, The Shining or even Joyland. They’re all pretty good and since you may have seen the film for one of them it would be easier to keep up! Aftet that, if you like his writing style I wpuld recommend Under The Dome

I asked this same question to FB friends recently and many responded with starting off with his novellas and then working up to things like It and The Stand. I’m going to be starting with Different Seasons.

Some less talked about books that are great and a little more of a quick read are Joyland, The Long Walk, Desperation, Duma Key. Under the Dome was good if your looking for something longer. Personally as much as I love Stephen King, I could never get through The Stand or his dark tower series.

Right, the Dark Tower series was more difficult to follow for me.

The Stand is my favorite-but Necessary Things is a fairly easy read-a very good one tho. Salem’s Lot is one of the scariest.

Four Past Midnight. It contains four shorter stories that I really enjoyed . It gives you a taste of what he’s about and either you’re interested in reading more or you’re not . ☺️

The easiest and tamest is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. He wrote this one when he was recovering from being hit by a van while he was walking down a road. My very first one, though, was The Stand, and I was hooked! It is one of his better ones. Some of them are written just for horror sake, and others have some meat to them.

I’m currently reading his bibliography in chronological order ? Carrie is a great place to start. It’s his first published novel and it’s a great read! The Dark Tower series is my favourite but I know not everyone is willing to commit to a 7 book series lol

Avoid The Tommyknockers. He claims that’s his worst book and as a huge fan, I think he’s kinda right lol Pet Sematary, IT, Misery, Cujo and Thinner (written with his pen name Richard Bachman) are all pretty amazing
