The mental illness and dysfunctional relationships in The Great Alone triggered negative emotions for me and made it difficult to enjoy. I did like the setting and the description of pioneering lifestyle.
They’re very different. I would read the great alone first, but that’s because I preferred it to the nightingale
The Nightingale if you like WWII stuff. The Great Alone if you’re into Alaska, survivalists, etc.
I agree, both are good but very different subject matter. Select the one that sounds the most interesting to you.

Neither. If you want a good Kristen Hannah read Firefly Lane.. those two are way overrated. Her old stuff is the best.
I’ve read almost all of her books but I think she reached a new level in writing with The Nightingale.
