Sybil (can’t remember the author) is a good one for that. Torey Hayden has several which deal in disturbed children.

Flora Reta Schreiber was the author, BUT, read the follow up…, Sybil Exposed, in which the patient admits she was faking it…

1
Cindy

Really?? It’s been years, but what I remember was some pretty serious child abuse being the root of it all… Still an interesting look into the psyche. If the abuse caused the fake out? Or if the abuse didn’t happen, what did cause that need for attention? You have me curious now.

Last Night i sang to the monster by Benjamin Alire Saenz is about depression and alcoholism
Speak, Wintergirls, Twisted and the impossible knife of memory by Laurie Halse Anderson are all great books written about different mental heath issues including depression, alcoholism and eating disorders. Speak is about rape so trigger warning for all of them
The perks of being a wallflower is great as well

I’m just curious to learn about how characters are portrayed ,dealing with mental issues.

Jonathon

It’s very clear some times that the writer is playing to stereo types and the fear mongering fact is most people with mental issues are victemized often there entire lives either phisicly mentally or sexually some times all 3
