A beauty of a book. The movie was too schmalzy.

The movie completely eliminated the title character.

Janet

@Sally Hmm, I did read it a long time ago and watched the movie, as well. I thought Tom Wingo was the main character and remember his portrayal by Nick Nolte.

0
Sally

@Janet Tom was the main character, but their older brother was the actual prince of tides, and he wasn’t in the movie.

Thanks for the comments…as an update, I did download it and it was the best $2.99 I’ve ever spent. My only mistake part way through was watching a trailer of the movie. Once I saw Barbara Streisand in the role of the psychiatrist I could not get her image out of my mind when reading. She is not how I picture that character.

I loved that book and I was so mad when I found out she owned the movie and had cast herself in that role. In the book the psychiatrist is described as a drop dead gorgeous brunette! She spoiled that movie for me. And I like her usually.

I like her too but she didn’t fit the description. Artistic license I guess.

0
Bonnie

She is a good actress and I guess I can’t blame her for wanting to do a film with Nick Nolte.

Molly

Definitely!!! Its better than the movie and the movie is great
