Not hype. Hype means exaggerations. The love people have for this story is not exaggerated. It is real. I was on the waiting list for weeks at my library. Got it and then promptly got my own copy. There are some that don’t love it. They don’t love the details which are plenty. I couldn’t get enough of it. Now i can’t wait to visit the are.

I’ve seen it mentioned so many times on here that I fear I’d be let down when I read it. Like when I read The Tattooist Of Auschwitz.

It’s on Kindle for £9.99. I might read it when the price comes down a bit.

0
Gabe

I was the same way with The Tattooist as well.

Crawdads isn’t really a bad book. But it is hyped up like crazy. The story is good for passing the time, but it’s nothing life changing. That’s just my opinion though.

Louise

It’s always good to see differing opinions, thanks!

You’re welcome!

It’s worth every penny !!!! I think I only paid about £12? From Waterstones, hard back….

Our library has a “Libby” ap. I downloaded the ap, signed in using my library card information, and requested to read this. I waited 4-6 weeks before it was available. The library sends an email when your “holds” are available.

Do you have libraries? Ignore the hype or you will be disappointed. It’s just a simple book. Simple plot. Good read.

I enjoyed it the most because it was about a land I did not know. I’ve been to the ocean but never to the areas that the author wrote of. It was a lifestyle I was not familiar with and I found it fascinating. I bought a copy for my friend because I know that she loves wildlife the way that I do. It was educational and fun.

There is no need to rush. In a year or so you may see it in paperback and it will be just as good. Anticipation is greater than realization.
