I’m just finishing American Gods. I need suggestions for new books, I like anything, I’m not a big romance fan though! The last few books I’ve read are Pillars of the Earth, Night Road, IT and I am Pilgrim.

There’s a semi-related sequel to American Gods, Anansi Boys.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik. It’s a sort-of retelling of Eastern European myths (like Baba Yaga) and it’s wonderful.

Another one I like to recommend is The Bone People by Keri Hulme. It’s by a Kiwi author and won the Booker Prize. It’s excellent, if sometimes a little unpleasant. But such a good book.

If you want something creative and weird like American Gods, I would recommend Christopher Moore’s Sacre Bleu or Daniel O’Malley’s Rook.

If you like big books try Neal Stephensen’s Reamde or Seveneves.

If you don’t want to fully leave the American Gods world but you also want a bit of lightness, Good Omens (Terry Pratchet and Gaiman), is the best comedy about the biblical apocalypse ever

I’ll second this. Good Omens is a fantastic and very funny book by two amazing authors. Also, it’ll be a TV series soon, so best read it before that happens.
