I need an epic fantasy series to get me out of this dang funk. Suggestions? Romance is not necessary or even wanted. #LoveLies
I need an epic fantasy series to get me out of this dang funk. Suggestions? Romance is not necessary or even wanted. #LoveLies
Wheel of time
Anne McCaffrey. She wrote several fantasy series. They are enjoyable light reading.
Afterlife saga by @Stephanie
Wheel of Time is a good series. Or something more light-hearted, Redwall
If you are in a funk I would recommend Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon. It’s up beat, funny.. the series has highs, lows, laughs and cries. But mostly a lot of good laughs.
Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne or Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson.
I actually have the first book in the Druid series! It was gifted to me!
Checking it out later today!
The Hyddenworld series
I will always say Outlander . Diana Gabaldon .

Magonia and Aerie
After the end
Geisha trilogy
Everland trilogy
Caraval
The testing
Cruel beauty universe
Hex hall

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson (a little bit of romance)
The Stormlight Archive, starting with The Way of Kings.
Seconded!
Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Trilogy
Stephen Erikson. Malazan Book of the Fallen (10 book series plus off shoots and Ian Esslemont (i think that’s his name) also wrote of the same world and same characters. They based the series on a D & D game they played together.
Brent Weeks Lightbringer series or Night Angel trilogy
Brandon Sanderson Stormlight Archive or Mistborn trilogy
Terry Brooks Word and the Void
Terry Goodkind Sword of Truth (not a personal favorite but I know a lot of people who love them)
my favorite epic fantasy books are Tad Williams (Memory, Sorrow & Thorn trilogy). Patrick Rothfuss – The Name of The Wind and Wise Man’s Fear. pretty much zero romance!
My publishing house specializes in escapism fiction, which is mostly fantasy. You can check out their collection here: http://www.mirror-world-publishing.moshopify.com/
Discworld by Terry Pratchett might do the trick … Guards! Guards! Is exceptionally good
I will suggest Caraval. I loved it so much couldn’t put it down
Gormenghast
Kingkiller Chronicles

If you want a long one, try Wheel of Time by Sanderson

If you’ve never read it, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
Dragon Sea Chronicles
I really like urban fantasy: Faith Hunter, Patricia Briggs, Charles de Lint, etc.
Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind
I double this suggestion. Loved this series!
I have Read all of both Terry’s Novels! Terry Brooks and Terry Goodkind!
I totally forgot to mention David Gemmell. Heroic fantasy at it’s best!
@Lilian or L.F. Oake The Lost Voice! The second book should be out soon!!!!
The Pellinor Books by Alison Croggon. Great characters and beautiful writing.
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin.

Elfland by Freda Warrington. I think there are three books. There is a love story in it, but there’s so much more too. <3
The Others by Anne Bishop..sort of a love story but very minor and the plots overrides it.
Sword of truth series
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson…AND/OR Stephen Kings Dark Towers (7xBooks in total…I’m half way through book 6 – PLEASE NOTE: Film release does not do this series justice!)
Currently I’m reading Dracula though it’s old and horror but I still enjoy it
Superb classic novel. I was amazed at how modern it feels using diary entries and news paper excerpts.
The King killer chronicles–Patrick rothfuss. Unfortunately he’s not released all of them. But they’re enjoyahle nonetheless. Really addictive.
Harry Potter series. It’s epic and fantasy!
Dune by frank Herbert… and then Dune Messiah, children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune. Deep and immersive.
