If you like FBI-type series and don’t mind if it’s graphic, try Allison Brennan’s Lucy Kincaid series. Those are “reading way after midnight and can’t put it down” type of books.
@Susan, I’m pretty sure you’ll have read most of the crime books that I’ve read. 🙂 One that you might not have read is a crime book with a little sci-fi twist, and it’s The Dispatcher, by John Scalzi.
Another crime book, this time with a historical twist, set in the British Raj, is A Rising Man, written by Abir Mukherjee. I loved both books, and they are both slightly different if you’re looking for a change, but still wish to stick to crime. I had both of them on audible, and although they would be equally good to read, the narrators were both superb.
Perhaps Celia Fremlin’s ‘The hours before dawn’ if you like a domestic psychological story. Written in 1957 ( or thereabouts) the psychology remains true today. I have re-discovered this writer and am now going through all of her books, and then passing them on to my daughter who is another big fan. You need to be aware of the age though, and not expect people to be able to call on their mobile phones etc….
