I may have asked this before… but how do I get books from OverDrive onto my Paperwhite?

When you click on the download link, it should take you to Amazon to download it to your Kindle
If I understand your question right, you can’t. Overdrive doesn’t store books across devices.
If you borrowed a book in epub format, you can’t. If it’s Kindle format, what Tara said.
I know people read books on their Kindle borrowed from OverDrive.
Would I choose that format when I choose the book?
I have the app on my phone, but haven’t utilized it.
Yes, choose Kindle format at checkout. Sometimes you will run across a book that isn’t available in Kindle. I have one borrowed right now, so I’m reading it in the Overdrive app on my phone.
Can you read kindle books through overdrive? I’ve only ever used epubs for it so I guess I don’t understand that. Why wouldn’t you just read kindle books through kindle?
I can’t always afford to buy the ones I want to read. :/
You do read Kindle format books in Kindle. Most of my library’s ebooks are available in both Kindle and epub. I always borrow Kindle format if it’s available.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding. When I borrow ebooks from the library it’s from my library, not overdrive, I use the overdrive app only to read borrowed books. Do you borrow books from overdrive?
Hahaha yes I do! When I borrow ebooks, I go to my library website and pick my book, it gives me the option to download through kindle or epub with overdrive. If I borrow an overdrive file on my phone, it doesn’t transfer to my tablet, I have to download it to each devices. So, no, you can not switch overdrive books across devices.
I guess my confusion is coming from all the kindle download talk lol kindle has nothing to do with how you download overdrive books.
I want to borrow it from OverDrive, but read it on my Kindle.
Maybe I’m the one confused here…for me, Overdrive is just the vehicle the library used to deliver borrowed ebooks. Is that not true for you?
Yes, I have to use my library card to sign in. But it’s a separate site from my library’s, and an app on my phone. I tried once, but didn’t like how they download on my phone. From the app on my phone, though, I don’t know that it gave me the option to send it to my Kindle, and I never tried because I’ve only had it a short while. I’ll just have to play around with it.
I don’t know about going through my libraries site, I’ll have to try that. Ours is technically through another bigger library.
So can you download the overdrive app onto your kindle device?
Not on a Kindle ereader. You can download it to a Fire.
I see, I have no idea then :/ lol
That’s where my confusion is, @Jennifer.
Can you borrow kindle files through wherever you borrow books?
I’m sorry, guys. I hope I haven’t confused you more!! Yes, I borrow Kindle books from my library. When Overdrive directs me to Amazon I choose whether to have the book delivered to my Kindle, my Fire, or the Kindle app on my phone. I would be happy to do screen shots if you like. Just let me know!
I’m going to try in a day or two. I’m actually off to the library to pick up actual books, so I don’t want to borrow any there just yet! I’m sure it will be simple once I try it!
That will work, Kayleigh, if the book is available in Kindle. When I check out the Download button has checkboxes to choose epub or Kindle. When I check Kindle and click the link, it takes me to Amazon. There is a dropdown to choose which device to have it delivered to then I click the “get book from library” button.
That’s exactly how I do it too for kindle books @Kayleigh. But I also have the OverDrive app on my kindle for epub books on OverDrive
I’ll have to look and figure it all out. I’m sure I’ll laugh at how easy it is, once I figure it out.
Yes you probably will. I have the fire, so I’m not really sure for yours. Maybe Google how to do it, that’s always my go to…lol
I guess our borrowing systems must be set up differently
Must be!!
