Hello! Read “Calculus of Change” I forgot who the author was but the story itself revolves to their family, grieving for their mom.

I have heard that Joan Didion’s book about the loss of her husband is a great book (I have not read it as I am working thru her books chronologically).also Julian Barnes & Joyce Carol Kate’s have written books upon loss of their spouses. Sorry for your loss hope you find a book that helps you through your grief

Oddly enough, when I go through tough times I like to reread Slaughterhouse-5 by Kurt Vonnegut. “so it goes,” means a lot.

Your relationship with God should be your only concern. Your external environment in this world will not provide you with unconditional love. Only God is the best of listeners, best of planners. He is the all knowing.

My sincere condolences. Perhaps a book of prayers. Or maybe sit and write a letter to the person who passed and tell them what they meant to you. Writing is very cathartic and healing.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked as a hospice nurse for many years. Some recommendations:
Grieve and allow yourself to grieve. There is no time limit on how long this process takes.
Don’t make any major decisions for at least a year after the loss.
Find a hospice support group in your area. Even if your loved one wasn’t in hospice, you are welcome.
If there are little ones in you circle, I recommend the book Waterbugs and Dragon flies. It helps them understand the concept of death and its permanent nature.
Take care of you. So many times we are so worried about taking care of those around us after a loss, we forget about taking care of ourselves.
I am very sorry for your loss and will pray that you find peace soon.

Well, it is hard when you are a mom to carve out time for grief. Audiobooks to the rescue! I put on some of my books(hearing them can really bring them alive again). Also, cooking some favorite comfort foods while listening to good stories.

My condolences…not an easy event to deal with…the passage of time eases the hurt somewhat, but I believe that down-the-road, we will meet up with those we love who have passed on before us. Obviously, I don’t know if this is true, but I have…faith. It helps me cope…If I think of a book or story or poetry that may “speak” to you about this, I’ll share it later.

I don’t have a book recommendation (I couldn’t focus enough to read after my sister died) but I felt like talking to family or friends about the person who passed helped me. Especially good/funny memories. If that’s too painful, maybe a walk in the woods? I bit of quiet in nature always helps me. Hugs to you

When this has happened to me I found I couldn’t concentrate enough to enjoy a book and I didn’t like anything I tried to read. I finally figured out it was me, not the books.
Maybe try reading Psalms in the Bible, not bc it’s religious but bc they are so beautiful and soothing. I hope you feel better soon.
