Is it a Paperwhite? I can’t read books on my Kindle Fire, but the Paperwhite is wonderful. I don’t read books on my phone, just the newspaper and articles. I read real books, too.

I read mostly on my phone. Being a mother of two young children and owner of several pets, I don’t dare to take my books out. The books on my phone are numerous, available at all times and they don’t risk any damage.

Oh me, me, I do! ☺ i still read paper books but just adore a lot of the fantasy books you can find online, I use the kindle app on my phone and have hundreds and hundreds of books on there. If I find a really good series I will buy paper copies to help support the authors.

No. I hate the screens – I use a Kindle Paperwhite, which I love. You can’t read or get everything on a Kindle, so I have plenty of the paper variety as well.

I read hardback, Paperback and also on my phone.

There is an app you can download for free through Google Play. It’s called Google Books and it’s great.

You can search for books and buy them really cheap to download to your phone. It doesn’t take up much space and you can also download free samples of the books you want so you can read the first few chapters before you buy the full book.

I read any and all formats: paper copies, Sony ebook reader, Kindle, Overdrive for library downloads, Ebook reader (for books from http://ebooks.com/), Google Playbooks, Kobo reader app, and Wattpad. Phew, I think that just about covers it. Most of the lattermost are on my phone, but my Kindle is a Fire HD, so several of those apps are on there too. Which one I choose to use often depends on where the book is from. Price is a determining factor as I resent paying several dollars more to download from one site than another, so I usually shop around. Of course the library downloads are free, so ….

And I’m sorry that link to ebooks popped up. I did not knowingly attach it. The link was generated by itself. Having said that, it is a good supplier although a little expensive at times. Buyer beware!

I can’t read digital. It’s just wrong lol. I love flipping the pages.

Fair enough. To me a story is a story (fiction or non-fiction) and the art of the author is in the words, not the format.

Candice

I really like the feel of the paper. I have read short stories on my phone but I won’t read novels.

1
Kathy

Yes. I believe that time, effort and expense is put into the weight and colour of the paper used by the publishers when printing as it apparently has a different impact on the reader. So you’re not alone by a very long shot.

I’ve got quite a big phone and I have Kindle and Overdrive apps on it. I always have my phone with me so I always have books on it ? but I also read physical books and use my kindle too.

I own a Kobo, but have to use my phone to read anything I get from Kindle or Google play books. I wish there was an ereader that could be used for all of them, my eyes get tired from my phone

2

Jocelyn

Yeah, a lot of the ebooks I get are only on Overdrive so I read them on Overdrive on my phone. Can really strain your eyes after awhile!

1
Kathy

There is – the Kindle Fire HD. It has some capacity as a tablet aswell as being a Kindle, so you can download apps such as Overdrive, Kobo reader, Ebook reader, Aldiko, etc. I have one (the Kindle Fire HD) and I have been able to download all types of ebook formats with the exception of Nook.

Jocelyn

My mom has one of those and loves it… but I love my Paperwhite <3

1
Tina

I got spoiled with reading on Kindle (which is also commercial free), so there’s no way you’ll see me reading on my phone – because of that and also because the phone battery would go bye-bye in a minute or so haha. 🙂

I read via my iPad (iBooks), it was a difficult transition, but can read late at night without waking hubby. And, not many good book options where I am, so purchasing online is more convenient for me. Still love paper though…

I used to read mostly on my kindle, but now with being able to get the audio companions for so many books I often read on my pad because then when I have to cook, drive, etc I can just switch over to audio until such time I can sit still and read again. It’s marvellous. And when the pad is flat I just pick up the phone or the kindle itself. Love the way I can chop and change and pick up exactly where I left off

Sometimes I do, but I prefer an actual book in hand. I do seem to read through them faster when they’re digital though. Not sure why. But that’s a high point for me hecause I struggle with dyslexia, so am a slow reader.

1

Kathy

Hi Mandy, my niece has dyslexia too, but apparently with some types of dyslexia they’ve found different colour glass helps to un-jumble the letters somehow. My niece found that yellow tinted glasses helped her tremendously.

1
Mandy

I find it helps to listen to audio books and read along with the more difficult books. I’ll have to look into different colors though. Thanks!
