I think the books are among the worst book ever written… so cringe worthy and repetitive. That’s just my opinion tho!

It began as a twilight fanfiction. The author changed some names, a location, a detail here and there. And with basically zero editing she self-published it. Then she up and completely. Opied the exact thing Meyer was gonna do with twilight, ie write it from Edward’s point of view (she didn’t because some ass leaked a copy of some of her work and she likes to cut off her nose to spite her face). So you have horrendous writing, you have, essentially, an abusive relationship…..no, there’s nothing to even kinda like about those books.

@Fiona the casting was beyond terrible. The movies are horrific. The book really is a nice love story.

There are a few books I have read that I really didn’t like and would say so if asked otherwise what’s the point in asking for an opinion. I have a few girlfriends that liked these books but mainly for the sexy bits, most said the story writing was terrible. ?

I don’t know what difference it makes as to whether someone has written a book or not. They still have just as much entitlement to an opinion, and that opinion carries as much weight as anyone else, author or not. I think these books are appalling. Terribly written and promoting abuse as normal behaviour. If that’s what you like though go ahead and read it. As a group we were asked for our opinions on it so that’s what people have given.
Because you all are bashing an author. Saying her writing is crap. That’s not right. If you don’t like it then say it. You don’t have to bash her writing. I bet if all of you who “hated” these books so much ,would get offended if someone said that about your book. I agree that everyone has an opinion but to use words such has terrible, awful, etc is ridiculous
But what if there are a lot of spelling errors, poor grammar, content dissonance, repetitive sentences and on and on? Wouldn’t these things qualify as terrible writing?

I’m not sure you know how literary criticism works. Saying a book is badly written is very different to bashing an author. Nobody is insulting her personally. We are commenting on the writing she produces. It’s not rude, it’s stating an opinion on a piece of writing.
Many people don’t like a book because of subject material or because they didn’t like the characters. I appreciate it when people, without giving away the entire story, clearly say why they don’t like a book. Just saying they didn’t like it doesn’t tell me very much. But if someone tells me that the story has lots of spelling and grammatical errors , that is different. We’re looking at two types of comments here, some subjective and some objective- both valid when backed up.
