I just finished the 3rd mistborn book (the twist at the end totally had me! ?) and a Gathering of shadows(VE Schwab) . Starting Scythe (Neil Shuusterman) now, but I like to have two books on the go at once. What now? Where do you go after Mistborn in the Sanderson books?

I’d say after Mistborn the logical next step is Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive. The downside there is that only 3 books are out so far

Have you read Mistborn era 2?

Yeah, there’s more Mistborn.
You could also try:
– The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett.
– Thousand Names by Django Wexler.

Warded Man starts off fun but spirals pretty quickly after the 2nd book or so.

the demon cycle could’ve easily been 3 or 4 books, the last book lost me.

I wasn’t interested in a whole book about the side characters and their political maneuvering.

I loved all of them. Haven’t read the last one, yet, though. 🙂

Django Wexler is great.

Mistborn was my introduction to Sanderon after Jordan. It was great. But I discovered lots of little gems from him. Elantris isn’t a series but it was great Warbreaker too, also a stand alone. And stormlight as previously said. Only began reading the new era Mistborn. Haven’t made it past first book. But the way he transitioned the gifts and the world after the trilogy was well done. I enjoyed it.

Elantris IS a series, actually. There’s at least one sequel. 🙂

I’m going with the order recommended to me on The Cosmere group, which does begin with Mistborn Era 1. I just finished Words of Radiance.

Image may contain: text that says '< Notes Drew's Recommended Cosmere Reading Order Mistborn Era 1 (TFE, WoA, HoA) Eleventh Metal Elantris Hope of Elantris The Emperor's Soul Warbreaker White Sand (graphi and prose) Shadow For Silence The Way of Kings Words of Radiance Edgedancer Sixth of the Dusk Oathbringer Mistborn Era 2 (AoL, SoS, Bom) Secret History Arcanum Unbounded Essays'

That order looks bizarre to me. Why break up the Misborn trilogies like that?

My guess is that it’s part chronological and part keeping “sets” of books together. That way when you finish Era 2 you can go right to Secret History with it fresh in your mind. Secret History should be after Words of Radiance according to https://www.reddit.com/r/Cosmere/wiki/order therefore it’s best to finish Stormlight as a set before Era 2.

I’ve read every Sanderson book out and the read order doesn’t really matter at all. The only thing I agree with on the list is warbreaker before the stormlight archives and mistborn era1 before 2.

The Lies of Locke Lamora by scott Lynch!
Oh and also continue reading Sandersons books. He has a lot of books set in the same… “galaxy” which are kinda related to each other but kinda not. I am closing in on the end of 3rd Mistborn myself!

Continue with The Alloy of Law. The next 3 books cross into a sort of steampunk backdrop, but explore more uses and impacts of allomancy in the distant future after the conclusion of 1st 3 novels.
