I’m going to have to check that out although it’s usually just not as good as the book. Curiosity just gets me.

And if you can handle subtitles, the movie by the same name stays true to the book!

I liked it okay, I recognize the writer’s amazing control of the story, but…no, it didn’t grab me. NOT EVEN when I live in the winters in Sweden (moving day is day-after-tomorrow — yikes!) in a place where I have only one neighbour–because every other place in the neighbourhood is a summer house–and he lives next door, and ***he is an old man called Ove*** (but his wife is alive and well, and he has a beautiful collie dog).

It is a delight. Amazingly effective for a translation. Books often lose some of their magic when they are translated, but this one retains its heart.
