I have to be honest, just recently I’ve not been happy with authors writing part of the book from the killer’s point of view. Anyone else agree?

I like reading loads of different books and POV 🙂 Have you read a book lately that you have enjoyed and can recommend?

Why do you think? Is it the voice? Or you don’t want to be in the killer’s head?

For me, it depends on how and why it’s written. If it’s just to show the gruesome evil, not a fan. But if it shows the psychological and spiritual struggles of the villain, I find that beneficial. It keeps me from thinking the villain is 100% evil (when most aren’t), and it helps me to remember that they represent confused, tormented people who can be saved.

I love reading books from the killers point of view! Being inside their head gives a unique perspective. X

I was thinking of putting a POV in my next book for the killer. You just corrected me lol

I think you should! X

Do Billy. A psychological evaluation- which is what you get from any first person POV – is a fascinating way to tell the story of a killer.

Personally I love it!! A whole book written from the murderers pov is fine with me x

Depends on the character tbh and reason behind the killing .

I like it because it gives an insight into why they are doing it.

I’ve not enjoyed all the books I’ve read from the killers point of view, but some have been really good.

(With all due respect) heartily disagree ?. I like to learn and explore different POVs when reading and writing! I don’t like being fed what I thought I was going to have for dinner.

But that’s exactly how the killers POV feels to me. I’m being told what to think and what’s for dinner.

Any book that’s well written is good with me. Nice to have some variation, some authors are very formulaic.

Thanks for all your replies. The best book I’ve read this week is the new Cormoron Strike.

How would you feel about it if the killer didn’t know if they were the killer or not?

I’d love to see how that would work! X

Hmmm that would be more interesting. I guess I like a standard whodunnit police /private detective puzzle.

*spoilers* ? I’ll try and let you know when it’s written. I’ve only just finished the first draft.

Would you like a link to my story? From the Killers pov. I’m giving it away to newsletter new subscribers. It’s called Famously ordinary.

I like books where the detective solves the puzzle of why, rather than be given the reason from the killers’s POV.
