@Francine But… if you like Lord of the Rings books, and can deal with that style of writing (the extremely detailed writing), then you would probably enjoy it.
@Ally I keep meaning to read harry potter but for some reason i always end up reading something else..Ive read some of the first book in middle school…
I wish I could re-experience my first time reading it. It’s one of those books that most people read as a child but when you read it as an adult you pick up on so much more if that makes sense? With game of thrones I personally loved it but it can be a little slow at times. Worth it for the amazing world building and character development tho I think
I loved the first three books ❤️ The fourth one not so much, the fifth however, I found so boring. 1-4 took me less than a week each to read, while the fifth took me around 5 months because I kept leaving it and reading something else as it was not very enjoyable, despite how attractive the book was (I have the hardcover first edition, take off the dust jacket and the book is absolutely beautiful).
I thought the first three were great. Feast of Crows was a struggle for me and while Book 5 was better I feel he’s going around in circles. Hope he proves me wrong.
I liked them much better I didn’t even bother with finishing the show.. BUT beware! Unlike the TV show, the books aren’t coming to an end very soon and no one knows when the next book is going to come out 🙁
Nooo. I love the show but could not get into the books. I tried reading the first book twice and it’s so boring! Very long winded he takes 4 chapters to describe a rock ( not literally). I couldn’t get into his style of writing, so much filler.
I enjoyed the books. Some more than others as he focuses in depth on storylines/viewpoints in the books. Doesn’t flip back and forth as quickly as in the show… Still, I liked them.
@Ray I’ve been planning to read the books after GoT is finished. I know enough to know there are some differences, but I have tried to accept them as different worlds with some similarities. I like the show, but books are often better because of the added detail. The show has gone off the books now, so I’m wondering if I should even wait. The books won’t really give anything away for the show any longer . . .
200% better
I think they are so much worse.
I love the seasons.
The books were extremely dry and boring.
@Jaron That’s what ive heard :/

I do not like lord of the rings…
@Francine Then I highly doubt you would enjoy Martins works in print.
I haven’t seen the show, but I’m loving the books.
Show is AMAZING!
My husband wants me to watch the show(he doesn’t read) but I keep telling him not until I read all the books ?
This is like asking if the Harry potter books are worth a read.
I havent read harry potter so means nothing to me..
It means go read both of them right now ?

Yes they are. I enjoyed books as much as the series.
Books are better than the show.
I loved the books but I think the shows are better. Especially the shows based on the books which is weird.
I thought the first three were great. Feast of Crows was a struggle for me and while Book 5 was better I feel he’s going around in circles. Hope he proves me wrong.

@Nicole agreed!!! It takes like 15 pages to walk in and out of a room and nothing happeneds!! Lol??
I enjoyed the books. Some more than others as he focuses in depth on storylines/viewpoints in the books. Doesn’t flip back and forth as quickly as in the show… Still, I liked them.
Yassssss!!!!
Books are even more detailed and interesting that the show. The only problem is they aren’t finished.
YES ?
Following
Yes!❤️
Yep … they add lots of context and are different in places too
Oh my yes.
Definitely!
The books were amazing. The show is awful once you’ve read the books.
I have often wondered the same exact thing!! I’m debating trying to read the books before the last season comes out. Anyone up for some group reads?

@Laura this is true. Show is almost done.
