I have read a couple of her books. I found them hard to read and depressing.

The Last Report on the Miracle at Little No Horse was not exactly enjoyable but it was incredible. Erdrich isn’t an easy read but her books tend to be very rewarding. Many of them have recurring settings and characters so the more you read of them the more immersed you become in her world.

I’ve read Plague of Doves and La Rose. Beautifully written. Heartbreaking. Family drama. About contemporary life for American Indians.

I read Round House just after reading William Kent Krueger’s Ordinary Grace, and thought they made an interesting pair.

She also has a juvenile series that is something like the little house books only with Indians on Lake Superior. I think the Birch bark Boat is the first one. Definitely worth the read. Very historical.
