The Last Report on the Miracle at Little No Horse was not exactly enjoyable but it was incredible. Erdrich isn’t an easy read but her books tend to be very rewarding. Many of them have recurring settings and characters so the more you read of them the more immersed you become in her world.
She also has a juvenile series that is something like the little house books only with Indians on Lake Superior. I think the Birch bark Boat is the first one. Definitely worth the read. Very historical.
I have read a couple of her books. I found them hard to read and depressing.

I’ve read Plague of Doves and La Rose. Beautifully written. Heartbreaking. Family drama. About contemporary life for American Indians.
I read love medicine and beet queen, in the 80’s and enjoyed them.
I liked her earlier books the best…Beet Queen & Love Medicine
Love Medicine and The Round House
Oh yes! The round house!!!
@Susan I hated the Round House! I had to read it 3 times before I finished it 🙂
I read Round House just after reading William Kent Krueger’s Ordinary Grace, and thought they made an interesting pair.
I agree with Love Medicine and Round House
Round house and Painted Drum are both great.
My favorites are The Master Butcher’s Singing Club and The Painted Drum.
THE CROWN OF COLUMBUS
One of my favs is The Master Butcher’s Singing Club.

La Rosa
Love Medicine is one of My favorite books. I’ve taught it to my honors juniors.
I have Love Medicine. Haven’t read it yet.
I enjoyed The Round House.
Round House was terrific
The Painted Drum and LaRose are two of my favorites, but I did enjoy The Round House and Beet Queen very much! Her writing style is exceptional.
Oooh! I’m going to have to check into those!!
