I have a chance to read War and Peace, but I’m not sure… If someone has read it, please sell it to me.Thanks!

It’s an amazing novel. I love it. The “epilogue” where Tolstoy rambles on about his theory of society/history isn’t integral to the plot and is widely seen as inferior to the novel itself.
What moves you to keep on? Is it suspense? Philosophical?
@Paula I like the characters. I find parts of the plot incredibly emotionally engaging.
That’s great! Thank you.
There’s definatly a lot of rambling… it is an epic novel though. I would recommend keeping a pen and paper handy to keep track of the characters as they often change names and titles and so on, it can get very confusing lol
I think one problem many readers have with Russian novels in general is dealing with the conventions of Russian names. In English you usually have just two names at most, your name and your nickname. In Russian you have your name and ALL the nicknames that ever come with it, and often Russian nicknames come from the second syllable of the name (Kolya for Nikolai or Vanya for Ivan) and names don’t work that way in English.
@Don Agee about the name situation , it takes a while to get used to there several names.
I’ve read it too. It’s very good , it’s get better the more you get into it. The start can be a bit slow as there is a lot of characters etc to introduce but stick with it as it’s an excellent book. I agree with the above comment about the epilogue.
From one rambling strangers perspective to another’s. Enjoy!

Definitely read!
If you want to read a book, read it. No one should have to “sell” it to you
