Yes!! This is why I have decided to never start a series, unless it has been completed. I’ve been burned too many times by starting a great series, and than having to wait years for the next book….(I’m looking at you George RR Martin)

He will NEVER finish ASOIAF I’m convinced. The HBO show will be how it finishes.

And I believe that he is completely done with both books or nearly finished. I just don’t think he wants to release them until after the show is over because why would he shoot himself in the foot and lose readership? If he lets the show finish, and then he releases books that have alternate endings or Veer off in a different direction he’s going to make a lot more money because then people will go ahead and buy the book snowing through the rumor mill that it’s not the same as the show. Just my opinion but I hope I’m right LOL.

@Dawn i think the same thing. Im convinced they are already done and hes waiting. But it could be wishful thinking lol

I don’t know what the deal is with Pat rothfuss though. He really only has the first two books as his notoriety he should probably stop monkeying around to get the third one done because people are going to get bored with his antics.

This is why I won’t read Kingkiller or A Song Of Ice and Fire until all the books are done.

I tried the GRRM, and hated it, so I won’t be bothering with that (which makes me feel lucky after recent events). I’m really eager to try the Kingkillers, though; it sounds like a story I’m really going to enjoy! But I’m with you – I won’t start until we at least have a publication date.

I found Kingkiller to be boring. It’s overrated IMO

Worse is when a series is incomplete then cancelled. Or the writer dies.

Yeah, we owe Brandon Sanderson a world of thanks for finishing the Wheel of Time series after Robert jordan passed.

Todd Mcaffrey too for finishing his mother’s DragonRiders series.

I’ll miss the MYTH series by Robert Asprin. Jodi Nye is still writing a few, but MYTH and Phule’s Company are forever incomplete.

I do this all the time even when I try and make sure all of a series is out. One always seems to slip through

At least your supporting the author as they are hard at work on what you LOVE.

That’s true until the author, grrm for example, gets a big head and decides to do 50 other projects before finishing the Flagship story. The reason he is a famous author in the first place are A Song of Ice and Fire books but because of the show and probably because he doesn’t want to lose readership of the final two books, he’s holding back till the show is over which I find to be very disingenuous and unfair to his fandom.
