Hahaha no! LOL Actually I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads but gave the second book 1 and reread my review where I said to kill off the protagonist so clearly I hated the series (read in 2013-2104). ??♀️
I just read most of the series (there’s a lot of novellas, which is a thing I’m weirdly not into, but they’re kinda necessary for this series) but… I didn’t love it. The main character Juliette is sorta… she didn’t thrill me at first, but I liked how she did grow a ton in the later books. I found the books to be goodish, but if they’re not thrilling you, then I’d maybe pass for now.
True, it does have the scratching sound. I tried to read the hard copy and the Kindle for a couple of years. I couldn’t finish it. But I enjoyed the audio and actually didn’t mind the scratching.
I decided to give the audio a try and the scratching noise just confused the crap out of me. I just bought the books and they will be arriving tomorrow. Hoping I don’t hate it. Lol I bought the entire series so far.
Not really. There are better moments, but worldbuilding is still not exactly great, but heroine gets a little better after 2nd book that is a disaster.
imo, only the third book was good (never bothered with the fourth when it was announced ?). And the second one was worse than the first. I will admit I love Kenji and Warner though
When I first read it back in 2011, I liked it. I tried to re-read it this year to catch up on the rest of the series… but for some reason, I ended up not liking it anymore, at all.
Honestly for me, no. It’s exhausting to read and I really didn’t enjoy the direction the series went and I did stick it out for the whole trilogy – I wish I hadnt
I couldn’t my first time around either, but when I listened to the audio last week I loved it ? it does get better for sure (at least the end of the first book, haven’t gotten farther than that yet)
I have only read the first book so far…. I love the premise but I hate how the plot seems to move too fast to be reasonable and the the MC I think is very childish. I’m gonna keep going because I hope it will get better
Yes!!! It’s one of my favorite series!!!! Get outta your head well reading it because I know people who only think of how it’s written can’t get past that to the actual story but if you can you’ll love it
Confession. I thought the second book was the first when I bought it and I never did read the first one afterwards? so yeah? I guess it does get better since I didn’t read it and still knew pretty much what was happening
I can’t handle the purple prose. Everytime someone mentions this series, I have flashbacks of “my jaw is dangling from my shoelace” and I cringe all over again.
The first time I read it (years ago) I would say yes. But I tried to reread the series and couldn’t finish. Idk if my tastes have changed since then or what
No doubt shatter me is one of the best book series I’ve ever read, at the start it took me a bit to get into and I was actual like to my friend wtf is this, but honestly push thru I read the series so damn fast
It will all be worth it when you reach Restore Me (or maybe even just making it to the 2nd half of book 2 or until book 3 might be enough). But overall, Restore Me is the book that really made me struggle when voting on the Goodreads 2018 Awards lol.
Yes each book gets better especially the new 3 book arc!
It’s one of my favorite series for sure. She has a bit of a different writing style but I love it!
I was the same for a while but I pushed through and just finished Restore Me. I thought it got much better. Keep going!
Hahaha no! LOL

LOL! I couldn’t stand it either. I’m glad people are enjoying it, but oh holy moly, it’s terrible.

it gets SO much better
I got through it but barely and refused to continue the series. And my book club agreed.
I couldn’t get into it either. I’m thinking about trying again.
The audio is great.
@Annie i’ve never read by audio maybe I should try
Don’t do it if you can’t stand scratching sounds. They do it everytime she crosses something out. It was super hard to get through it because of that.

It was one of the few books I DNF.
@Suzanne what does DNF stand for
Did not finish
@Suzanne thanks a lot.
Not until the second book.
Nope.
Yes especially books 2 and 3
the end of book 1 and book 2 and 3 are so good
Aaron Warner is one of my fave characters of all time
I couldn’t either… just the plot was dragging
Shatter me is one of the best
imo, only the third book was good (never bothered with the fourth when it was announced ?). And the second one was worse than the first. I will admit I love Kenji and Warner though
Yes!
i was the same and i was not a fan tbh
I finished it but hated it. You’re not alone.
I loved it xx
Honestly i made it through the first one and like 10 pages of the second before i gave up on it. Was too slow and the characters annoyed me a lot lol
It’s my absolute favorite series. I urge you to keep going!
It’s my absolute favorite series. I urge you to keep going!
It took me 5 times to get through the first book but after that, I couldn’t stop reading them. Keep pushing through, it gets better 🙂
I LOVE IT! Each book is better. Shes still annoying at times but love the story and her friends she makes!
When I first read it back in 2011, I liked it. I tried to re-read it this year to catch up on the rest of the series… but for some reason, I ended up not liking it anymore, at all.
It took me until around chapter 9 or 10 but then i was IN!
I couldn’t either. I’m going to have to try again some other time
Honestly for me, no.
It gets so much better about halfway in the first one
Yes! I loved it
I have only read the first book so far…. I love the premise but I hate how the plot seems to move too fast to be reasonable and the the MC I think is very childish. I’m gonna keep going because I hope it will get better
Yes! Keep going coz it is super good. ❤️❤️❤️
Keep going. I loved it!

I liked the first one but couldn’t get into the 2nd so I dnf’ed it.
First one isn’t so bad, but the second I wasn’t liking so it was a dnf for me after like 50 pages.
@Bri haha same
Try the audiobook for it. That is what I did. And I ended up loving it.
I bought a box set and I regret it
No
Same here. I finished it and i cant even remember a thing except what is in the blurb lol
Lol no
I found the second one much better than the first
The audiobook is really good to listen to
How do they work with all the crossing-out and repeated words?
@Hareem there’s a scratching like a pencil crossing out a line.
I personally did not enjoy it and did not continue the series
I couldn’t get into it. The writing style was just too much for me
I thought it was too contrived and the plot too amateur and rushed. I didn’t continue it either.
It does. I got a little bored at first but I had enough questions I needed answered to keep me going.. It for sure gets better
First book is kinda boring but the rest of the series is so worth it.
Confession. I thought the second book was the first when I bought it and I never did read the first one afterwards? so yeah? I guess it does get better since I didn’t read it and still knew pretty much what was happening
@An-Mari HAHAHAHAHA I ACCIDENTALLY STARTED AT BOOK THREE AND WAS WONDERING IF I MISSED ANYTHING BUT STILL UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING ???
My favourite trashy YA, nonetheless trashy
I can’t handle the purple prose. Everytime someone mentions this series, I have flashbacks of “my jaw is dangling from my shoelace” and I cringe all over again.
@Stacey it’s honestly like creative writing 101 ?
It will get better
But the second one is better
So much better!!!
The first time I read it (years ago) I would say yes. But I tried to reread the series and couldn’t finish. Idk if my tastes have changed since then or what
Kinda sorta? Action picks up but I couldn’t get into the main character. Kindve annoyed me
ugh yes!!!! it is one of my favorite series. i love it
It’s hard to get into at first, but it’s worth it, trust me!!
What did you not like about it? I was hooked from the first chapter, so I don’t know if I can say it gets better.
NOPE
Eh ??♀️
No doubt shatter me is one of the best book series I’ve ever read, at the start it took me a bit to get into and I was actual like to my friend wtf is this, but honestly push thru I read the series so damn fast
Taherah mafi is such a good writer
It does get better but I still didn’t like it.
I personally didn’t like it but many others do
Literally me too
It will all be worth it when you reach Restore Me (or maybe even just making it to the 2nd half of book 2 or until book 3 might be enough). But overall, Restore Me is the book that really made me struggle when voting on the Goodreads 2018 Awards lol.
Yes i love it. It gets way better
