I used a bunch of those “if you loved this book” lists from Pinterest. I went through a fairy tale retelling stage, angel stage, dystopian…
Just reading something I really wanted and was excited about instead of what I thought I should be reading helped a lot. I went from reading 30-60 books a year to almost 300 in 2017.

@Courtney yeah it got a little out of hand. A more demanding job would cut into my reading for sure which is why I don’t want one ?

I ended up in a huge reading slump last year when I lost my job. I ended up binging shows on Netflix. The thing that pulled me out was reading books that reminded me of a particular couple on one of the tv shows I couldn’t stop rewatching. So maybe try something like that.

Yep that was me in 2012/2013 (also lost a job, gained a foster daughter) so I binged The Wire, Mad Men and countless other movies until I could climb out of my head and start reading again.

@Tricia yes! And on top of losing one job, I got another that required a pretty big move so I had so much trouble focusing. So instead I became OBSESSED with Kurt and Blaine on Glee and decided to read gay romance until I was able to get back into the swing of reading. Then I moved on to the many other genres I read.
