Same. I’m not a big fan.

Everyone has different reading styles, it’s not nice to put another person’s reading choices down. We are all here because we love to read.

@Katherine who’s putting anyone down?? I just said I’m not a big fan. That’s MY personal choice.

Katherine

The first person that commented that said Just don’t it comes across as an insult.

May I know why not? 🙂

@Katherine ahhh gotcha

@Manasee for me it’s just the writing style if that makes sense. If you’re looking for romance novels I do enjoy Nora Roberts a lot better

Manasee, my guess is that many people feel that since she has written so many books over many years, that they have become formulated. If you are just starting out reading her, good luck, I hope you enjoy them. I was going to suggest The Ring which is a book I read over 30 years ago, so you can see, she’s been around a long time. Happy reading!!

Not putting down anyone’s reading choices unless saying I don’t think a particular writer is worth reading is doing so …and people do that frequently here …but go to the library, pull any of her books off the shelf and start reading it …if it makes you say ‘hell no’ put it back and look at another writer …if it draws you in take it home

I apologize to anyone I insulted with my comment about Danielle Steele’s books; I just don’t think they’re worth the time to read when there are so many better ones. But I was one of those English majors and we can be a pretty brutal bunch.

@Manasee I have recently discovered Danielle Steele.I love her books.I just read Accidental Heroes and The Good Fight.Am presently reading Rushing Waters by her.I find her books well written and very interesting stories.I think years ago she wrote a lot of romance books but not now.I enjoyed the first two books I read by her so much that I ordered 10 more(ebooks) by her.She is a very accomplished author.

I loved “Star” when I read it in HS. Not sure if it holds up, but it’s worth a shot.

Her earliest books were her absolute best with original stories and plots that kept your interest and once in awhile she can still deliver a great read – but I have to agree that over her last 10 years she has just put out so many books that she’s losing her edge and legions of fans. With that said, a few of my favorites by her: Granny Dan, The Ghost, Palomino, The Long Road Home, Accident, Zoya, A Good Woman, Big Girl, Sisters, and if you want to laugh hysterically then listen to The Klone and I as an audiobook.

True, but in many years of reading it is the only time I have been so disgusted with the waste of time I spent reading a book I threw it across the room.

Long ago I must have read about 20+ of them. If I were to start now, I would look at a list of her books and read every 5th one. That way you can see if and how her writing style changes and/or matures.

My mother was a big fan so I have quiet a few on my shelf. Accidental Heroes is the only one I have read. No romance and a great story. I would try another.

I’m not a fan, so no title here. But I want to tell you a nice Danielle Steele story. My very dear friend was not a reader. My love of reading kind of fascinated her, but not enough to pick up a book. At some point about 20 years ago, she decided it was time to quit smoking. But she was having trouble with what to do with her hands. (If you have been a smoker, that will make sense.). Anyway, she picked up a Danielle Steele book.at an airport bookstore, and found that when reading, she no longer found her hands looking for the old smoking habits. For me, much as I wanted to joke about reading Danielle Steele, I was thrilled. She now reads more than I do. I am so proud of her!

I loved her for a long time and then I sort of stopped reading her. I just the other day checked out one from her. I remember Jewels being a favorite, The Ring, Zoya, and Once in a Lifetime….She has written so many I just remember those being some of my all time favorites. I might have to do a reread on them and see if my love for those books still is the same.

I can tell you that we all have our favorite authors. Danielle Steel happens to be a very favorite as there is always a message in her novels. As we all do, I love to read but I am not a book snob. As long as I am happy with my book I read anything. None of us know our life situations and I agree with Linda we are not to judge. Danielle Steele brought me through a terrible sadness in my life as my escape from the tragedy so let’s recommend not judge

Can anyone suggest another Danielle Steel to me based on these two books? I’m not a big “romance” fan, but I’m not opposed to romance being secondary.
