The End is Nigh. It’s a collection of stories about the apocalypse. There are three sets in the series that all weave together. Very well done.
Ireland’s history with the short story form is well documented. James Joyce, Elizabeth Bowen, Frank O’Connor, Sean O’Faolain, Maeve Brennan, William Trevor and Mary Lavin are just some of a long list of internationally recognised writers.
The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde is a classic.
Anton Chekov is also very good.
USA has some good short story authors.
James Baldwin. Katrine Mansfield. The list is long.
